Help me find a PrC [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-12-07, 02:19 AM I am about to level up and cannot decide on a PrC to go with. I would like reccomendations based on my build and my available books.

I am currently playing a Gnome Rogue 5/Combat Trapsmith 5(Complete Scoundrel). Feats are Improved Initative, Grenadier, Mad Alchemist and Weapon Finesse. Skills are focuesed in Craft(Trapmaking, and Alchemy), Open Lock, Disable Device, Search, Tumble, UMD, with a smattering in other useful skills.

My focuses are alchemy and traps, and those compose my usual combat techniques. I need a PrC that follows in a vein similar to this.
Available books are Complete Scoundrel, DMG, Complete Adventurer, Complete Warrior.
Thanks in advance.

Note: this char is not intended to be optomized, and I would appreciate it if you answer in light of this.

07-12-07, 02:51 AM What about the dungeon delver in CAdv? Normally I would be a little sceptical of a PrC that gives no casting, full BAB or another ready damage source, but for a trapsmith extraordinaire it can be very nice.

07-13-07, 03:12 PM Did ever think of taking the character direction and expanding the role he can play on the party? I only ask because because I once played a halfling rogue that was big into Alchemy too. He use alchemical bullets in a halfling war-sling. But by the time he got to tenth level that was all played out and I found myself having and later wanting to be more. I end up in a fight with a about 24 formain workers and 12 warriors while the arcane user of the group went head to head with a battle of wills with the formain taskmaster. And our monk the only melee person of the group had his hands full with to stone advanced golems. Man was that a fight. Luckily, I had two scroll of improved invisibility. The point is by the time the other two got free to help me I had all the warrios dead and most of the workers but I did it with the short sword I had happen to find shortly before. (It happen to be bane tord Lawful outsiders)

My point with that little story is after that fight I found my self more willing to step in to melee role. I even started buying gear to help the character make up for his short comings in this new role. So I was thinking maybe you should take a look at blade bravo. Combine that with a good sword and your alchemical weapons and you may find you really start to kick some butt. There are also weapons that use alchemy to help improve themselves. I think their in some of the Eberron books, but I beleive you can also find them online at crystal keep.
