One of the terrain masteries -- I believe desert -- renders the horizon walker immune to the effects of fatigue.

Presumably this would apply to the barbarian's rage ability?

Just wonderin' cause I'm playing a Barbarian / Ranger, and this seems like it might be a good PrC to take.

Edit: ermm... the title is wrong -- I meant "horizon walker", not "master"

Yes. I believe it also works on Dervish dance, Snowflake Wardance, and possibly quite a few other feats/features I don't remember right now.

Of course, there are regional feats that do the same thing, so it's kind of like a feat, really.

Horizon Walker is a fun PrC, though I usually combine it with monk levels and the Sun School tactical feat. That said, yes, the dessert terrain effect would effectively grant you tireless rage.

I'm still undecided given the needs of the party, my character's weaknesses and the direction I want to take the character. Not sure I could pick the desert one up immediately either since to my knowledge my character hasn't even been to a desert anyhow :D Currently I've been the recon as well as the melee fightery type... I don't always last very long with my mediocre constitution score, light armor and one rage per day. Might take some more barbarian before branching out further. Maybe druid instead of PrC, maybe just stick with dual class. Maybe dread commando, but probably not since that would require fighter levels if I'd want to get the required feats before waiting 6 more levels. Dunno really.

You could go into Bear Warrior, and then if your DM allows it, take levels in Nature's Warrior. This of course would be a houserule, as Bear Form is not the same as Wild Shape. You could also multiclass into Warshaper.

It might be an interesting path for your character to take.

Can you elaborate one what these classes are like?

I'm not sure of your race, but this concept works very well with the Orc Warlord PrC, which gets unlimited one round rages per day. Combined with the lack of ever getting tired, you can basically always be in rage.

Bear warrior (CW): turn into a bear when you rage (I prefer the primeval, which is more demanding but imo has better features)
Warshaper (CW): your wildshape/bear shape/whatever shape becomes more powerful
Nature's Warrior: similar to the warshaper, but with less impressive abilities - but full BAB and 2/5 divine casting progression.

Half-Orc with first favored racial enemy humans :D

The Orc Warlord is the one who can inspire rage in his followers? If so that's a sweet looking PrC but we'd probably have to do some RPing like going back to the tribe I left and so on, plus I don't think I have the requirements as is for it.

Just fer the hell of it here's my guy in condensed form:

Okk: Half orc Rngr 4 / Brb 3; CN; Hp 55; Init +4; Spd 40;
AC 18; touch 13; flatfooted 18
Melee +11/+6
or full attack two weapon +11/+6/+10 "d8+d6+5"/" "/2d6+5;
Missile +10/+5 (d8+3 comp longbow);
Ref 7 fort 7 Will 4;
str 18 dex 17 con 12 int 13 wis 14 cha 4; (not sure why I gave higher int than con)
skills: climb 8, handle animal 2, hide 8, jump 9, know nature 9, listen 8, move silent 8, spot 8, survive 11, swim 9, use rope 7, know local 3
feats: tracking, endurance, two weapon, weapon focus battleaxe, pwr attack, cleave, orc-double axe (dm just gave me this one)
rage 1/day, 1 1st lv spell / day, uncanny dodge, fav enemy human, wild empathy +3, trap sense +1, +10 spd, dark vision 60, orc blood
gear: studded leather +2, +1 flaming battleaxe, +1 frost handaxe, cloak of the manta ray, boots of winterland, +1 orc doubleaxe, comp long bow

Didn't take my companion yet. Be leveling up soon.

Thoughts on possibilities seeing the stats?

Alright so I looked at the Orc Warlord, and the requirements are ride 5 ranks, intimidate 8 ranks, survival 5 ranks, Leadership, Might Makes Right or Blood of The Warlord, and rage.

The Horizon Walker is know geography 8 ranks and endurance.

I've got the survival ranks, I've got rage, and I've got endurance, so I'd need:

5 ride, 8 intimidate, and 8 geography which is 21 skill points. Plus I'd need two feats. If I take fighter levels to get the feats I'd only get 3 skill points per level. I could go 5 more levels to get those feats. I never used handle animal (I made the character at 7th) or climb so the DM would let me fudge those into other skills with no problem.

So right there I could get ride and know geography or intimidate. I initially didn't take intimidate because if you look I stuck my lowest ability into charisma and I didn't feel like spending points to bring it up intimidate to zero.

By the time I had the needed feats for the Warlord I'd be 12th level and my leadership score would be 12-3 = 9. A leadership score of nine doesn't grant any followers at all, so the gather horde ability would be effectively useless. It's possible that I could be of great renown or have a stronghold (wouldn't make much sense for a horizon walker / ranger to have much of a stronghold but whatever) at that point so lets say I have a circumstantial leadership of 13 which would grant 15 first level and 1 second level followers. Conceptually a barbarian / ranger is basically a "nomad", and as a warlord I be a kind of nomad clansleader you could say. So that's cool, but I'm not quite sure how useful having 15 first level orcs running around with me could be unless I convey all this to the DM and he plans the future campaign events based on this path being my destination.

Given my sh1tty charisma score, it could make for some role playing overcoming the adversity of being an ugly wandering outcast to being a formidable leader.

Who knows, we'll see. I like the concept a lot in any event.

My DM is liberal with multiclassing too; he only gives you a 5% drain instead of 20%, so that's a plus too.

Which book is nature's warrior in? I'll be getting the CW in the mail soon, so I can look into those other two.

You didn't look at Might Makes Right (one of the prereqs) did you? It lets you replace your charisma score with your strength score for leadership. That should solve your problems nicely.

Reading it now. Apparently it doesn't swap the two scores, but it adds your strength modifier to whatever the leadership score already is -- either way, yes that would certainly help out.

Regional feats? I'm not familiar with those.

CWarrior. Regional feats are feats you can only take one of during character creation, depending on the region your character was born in. They are a FR thing... I'm thinking of whether Eberron had them, but I've only had a passing glance at the ECS.
