| RellenMarn04-25-07, 05:03 PM | Can anyone please confirm that the Dimension Door ability available as a Planar Terrain Mastery ability for the Horizon Walker is always available? I believe it would be, but just want to check the text seems a little ambiguous. Any helpful hints for persuading my DM of the same would also be greatly appreciated. |
| JellyPooga04-25-07, 07:46 PM | I pondered the same question not too long ago. I came to the conclusion that it doesn't say that it doesn't work in places other than Limbo, so the assumption is that, like all the other abilities you get from [Planar] Terrain Mastery, it's usable all the time (regardless of your geographical location). |
| AGM Illmater04-25-07, 07:57 PM | It works all the time, since you use your ability to slip into "Limbo" and jump. Though I would make it susceptible to Anti-magic type situations. |

Though the ability is technically extraordinary (I think), it is an extraordinary ability to cast a spell. Spells don't work in AMF. Thus, neither does this. That's the way I se it anyway... |
| AGM Illmater04-25-07, 08:07 PM | That is just what I said...they would be - Susceptible: 1. Easily influenced, moved or affected : sensitive 2. Prone to be subject 3. Capable of accepting or pemitting |
| RellenMarn04-25-07, 08:24 PM | Hmmm, perhaps I will ask for a customer service ruling. It certainly seems reasonable as a sixth level ability for an otherwise lacklustre PRC. |
| AGM Illmater04-25-07, 08:35 PM | Lackluster? I love using Horizon Walker...I tend to play skill happy characters. |
| Jaxgaret04-25-07, 10:01 PM | Lackluster? I love using Horizon Walker...I tend to play skill happy characters. I agree, it is a pretty decent 1 or 2 level dip for a Rogue/sneaky type to get a stackable +4 to Hide and/or Move Silently. But to take 6 levels of it to get to the Shifting Planar Terrain Mastery - which is nice to have and flavorfully fun but not earth shattering - is pretty harsh on most character builds. |

That's the way I se it anyway...well, it actually says it's a spell-like ability, not extraordinary. but yeah, AMF disables it. Craven would help out there, if it's allowed... but really, you get pretty decent bonuses to the stealth/scout role, I'd say. pretty easy to enter with various class combinations too - 1 feat, 8 ranks. piece of cake, hehe. |
| AGM Illmater04-26-07, 03:47 PM | I like to use it along with my Ranger builds. It just seems to mesh well with how I play them. |
| RellenMarn04-27-07, 12:05 AM | I was planning to use it in conjunction with the monster manual feat Quicken Spell-like ability. Of course I need to be 16th level to pull that off and need to get a bonus feat from somewhere - any idea? |
| Bob Loblaw04-27-07, 09:44 AM | If your game allows Flaws, then you can simply pick up a flaw or two. At 16th level you can have up to 5 flaws and up to 5 Traits. If you're going to Quicken the dimension door, just remember that your turn ends after you use the spell so timing is going to be important. |

| Darakhoranon08-24-07, 04:48 AM | Yeah, how? Yoe can only use one quickened ability/spell, but why should that end your turn? |
| LazyNinja08-24-07, 09:49 AM | Yeah, how? Yoe can only use one quickened ability/spell, but why should that end your turn? Dimension Door (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/dimensionDoor.htm): You instantly transfer yourself from your current location to any other spot within range. You always arrive at exactly the spot desired—whether by simply visualizing the area or by stating direction. After using this spell, you can’t take any other actions until your next turn. If you can squeeze in a level of monk for Flurry of Blows, you can take the Sun School tactical feat in Complete Warrior, which lets you make a single attack after instantaneous travel. |
