My question is this can you ""dip" into a 3 level prestige class or two while advanceing in a 10 level prestige class. I ask this because I wanted to advance an illithid slayer but pick up uncanny trickster levels while doing so. I will max out the trickster but I dont know if i want to do it all at once or not. Thanks for the help this post will recieve.

Yes, unless there are special restrictions (i.e. on some paladinish PrCs) you can dip however and as much as you like. You can be a Ranger 8/deepwood sniper 2/OotB initiate 3/Peerless archer 7 if you like.

Indeed, there's no rule stopping you from taking levels in another class, if you're stil working though one PrC.

The closest rule is about monster SS progression classes, which has no bearing here...

On the other hand, some DMs limit players to one or two PrCs, or make it so you can't go into another new class until the Prc class is fully finished (I.e. level 10), but this is an entirely DM-choice rule.
So the best answer is really: Yes, the rules say you can, but ask your DM.
