im considering a 1 level jump into pious templar (complete divine pg. 50) for my human fighter7/barb2...

it looks like it will be pretty useful (will and fort save for no effect if made), and in addition, it will give a much needed 2pt will save bump..

experts please advise :D

Mechanically, I'd say it's a solid choice. Mettle is basically Evasion for Fort and Will saves...it's particularly useful when fighting clerics and necromancers.

Friendly advice: Please don't type in all caps. It's considered yelling.

WHY ARE YOU TYPING IN ALL CAPS? IT IS REALLY ANNOYING BECAUSE IT DRAWS ATTENTION TO YOUR WORDS, WHICH AREN'T REALLY THAT IMPORTANT BECAUSE YOU ARE JUST ASKING A QUESTION ABOUT PIOUS TEMPLAR'S METTLE, (IT'S AN OKAY CHOICE) THAT ISN'T LIFE SHAKING IN ANYWAY. IF YOU ARE ANNOUNCING 5ED OR SOMETHING, CAPS AWAY. OTHERWISE, DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taking a 1-level dip in Pious Templar is a good choice for your character.

Mettle isn't as amazing as it might seem to be, but it is very good.

i was thinking that it might not be as good as it seems, especially being that his will save isnt very good anyway so it might not come into play as often.

its a little bit, but any bit helps right?

thanks for the useful response.

LOL! (don't want to seem to be mocking you, but that second line just made my day...)

Anyway, anything I might have to say has already been said.

Anyway, to chime in - how useful is mettle depends on how many spells are included. In core it's imo mostly good for resisting, say, inflict spells (or cure spells, for an undead PT), although getting no adverse effect from a saved disintegrate, FoD, etc can also be nice. Splatbooks, however, tend to have some very mean saves with partial will/fort saves. Remember Necrotic Termination?

Edit: a list of PHB spells subject to mettle, found here: (http://www.enworld.org/archive/index.php/t-143758.html)
