| Peregrine_Wolf06-06-07, 09:33 AM | I figured that, since I hadn't seen any class like this(other than Bloodhound, which seems a bit.....useless.....to me), I'd go ahead and work on it. --The Hunter is someone who has come to dislike certain creatures with such passion, that s/he dedicates their entire lives and education towards killing them. A Hunter goes to great lengths to see that their victims are killed with such efficiency, that to even the inexperienced, it is easy to tell that only an expert could have done the killing so well. --Hunters get along well with nature-based classes like the Ranger and Druid. They don't really dislike certain classes, but the frown upon "cowardly" ways of killing enemies. As such, they usually take a while to "warm up" to Rogues and Mages and other such characters. --Hunters are considered the elite when it comes time to remove pesky monsters from ceratin areas. If a town has trouble with orcs, they are likely to try and hire a Hunter to aid them in their endeavor to remove the threat. --Hunters usually start their careers as Rangers, but over the course of their training, decide that they would rather devote their life to becoming the bane of a certain creature. Hunter: Prerequisites: BAB +3 or higher, at least 1 favored enemy, cannot have an animal companion or familiar. Class Skills:Balance(Dex), Climb(Str), Concentration(Con), Craft(Int), Disguise(Cha), Escape Artist(Dex), Gather Information(Cha), Hide(Dex), Intimidate(Cha), Jump(Str), Knowledge(Int)*, Listen(Wis), Move Silently(Dex), Profession(Wis), Search(Int), Sense Motive(Wis), Spot(Wis), Survival(Wis), Swim(Str), Use Rope(Dex). *A Hunter has any knowledge that might pertain to favored enemies s/he has. i.e. Hunter has favored enemy-Demons, gets Knowledge(Planes). Skill Points: Same as Ranger BAB Fort. Ref. Will Special Abilities 1. 1 2 2 0 Favored Enemy 2. 2 3 3 0 Hunter's Devotion 3. 3 3 3 1 Favorable Strike 1/Day 4. 4 4 4 1 Favored Enemy 5. 5 4 4 1 Glory of the Hunt 6. 6 5 5 2 Favorable Strike 2/Day 7. 7 5 5 2 Favored Enemy 8. 8 6 6 2 Hunter's Instinct 9. 9 6 6 3 Favorable Strike 3/Day 10. 10 7 7 3 Bane of Favored Enemies Class Features: Weapon and Armor Proficiencies: The Hunter gains martial weapon proficiency and light armor proficiency. Favored Enemy: This is exactly like the Ranger ability of the same name, except that it is obtained more often. Hunter's Devotion: A Hunter is less likely to be affected in a way that would prevent him/her from getting to their favored enemies. Hunter's get a +2 bonus on all saves provoked by favored enemies and gets a 10 foot increase to speed when charging a favored enemy. Favorable Strike: A Hunter may only use a favored strike against a favored enemy. A succesful favored strike deals bonus damage equal to the Hunter's class level and also reduces the targets speed by 5 feet. A Hunter must declare an attack a favored strike before making an attack roll. Glory of the Hunt: Any time a Hunter drops a Favored enemy, s/he gets a +2 morale bonus to all saves and attack rolls for 5 minutes/HD of the creature. Hunter's Instinct: A Hunter gains a +4 to initiative in any combat situation against one of their favored enemies. This only applies if the Hunter is aware of the favored enemy. Bane of Favored Enemies: A Hunter is so experienced at hunting, that s/he is bestowed with a greater hunting prowess. The Hunter's then increases the bonus of any favored enemy by +3 and any time the Hunter strikes that favored enemy, they must make a Will save of 15+the Hunter's favored enemy bonus or cower in fear for 1D4 rounds. Sorry about the fluff formatting, but I coudln't find the template thing.... |

| ank06-17-07, 01:23 PM | Looks good to me, obviously a lot of work put into it. It would be comforting to see a +1 level of spellcasting at every even level so that a hunter has some potential against non-favored enemies *shrug* but that's why they get so many right? |
| Imreallyagreatredwyrm07-10-07, 02:38 PM | Great work! It might be a good idea for my orc-hating half-elf ranger scout! |
| malak9207-13-07, 01:07 PM | It's great idea, just for the record though check out Foehunter in Masters of the Wild. Same basis, they get more damage to attacks...Sr (stackable). Maybe get some ideas from that or try to turn this into a differant variety of hunter of X monster. |
