| Bobby_Da_Fish03-27-07, 10:57 PM | Well... I made a Prestige Class, tell what you think. D&D Prestige Class: Shadow Warrior Requirements: Base Attack Bonus +6 Alignment: Any non-good and must be Chaotic Skills: Intimidate 4 ranks, Knowledge (the Planes) 2 ranks Feats: Dodge, Whirlwind Attack, Mobility, Spring Attack _Hit Die: D10 _Class Skills: Balance, Concentration, Craft, Diplomacy, Heal, Hide, Intimidate, Jump, Knowledge (the Planes), Listen, Move Silently, Search, Sense Motive, Spot, Swim _Skill Points at each Level: 4 + Int Modifier _Class Description: The Shadow Warrior is a Combat character who has passed the barrier between the Material Plane, and being a Shadow. As a Shadow Warrior increases in his powers, so do his abilities. Powerful Shadow Warriors are said to enhance, and eventually create, weapons with shadow properties. He can pass out of the Material Plane and travel short distances in a split second. The body of the Shadow Warrior changes as well, one half of his choosing (right or left) changes form. The skin turns black and his eye color changes to a blood-red. As the Shadow Warrior strengthens, so does his bond with the Shadows. Their skins becomes darker and darker, and eventually their very being sheds shadows off of it. A Shadow Warriors attacks do an extra 50% damage against Good-Aligned creatures and NPC’s. Evil creatures take normal damage, unless they are Shadow, if so the Shadow Warrior will have to use his Material form to defeat them. Upon choosing a side, when in Shadow Form, the Shadow Warrior become dominant on that side. (ex. He was right handed, chooses left side shadow, when in shadow form he is left handed) Shadow Warriors don’t usually use shields, as they are heavy and make their shadow abilities less effective. _Class Abilities: _Weapon and Armor Proficiencies: The Shadow Warrior is proficient with all types of weapons, and armors. Does not use shields. Keeps any shield proficiencies from other classes. _Shadow Form: During Combat, a Shadow Warrior shifts into his Shadow Form, giving him +1 on all attack rolls, and +5 on attack rolls against good-aligned creatures. Also giving him a +1 on damage rolls, and a +5 on damage rolls against good-aligned creatures. This can be an optional transformation when the Shadow Warrior reaches the 4th level. The Shadow Warrior cannot use a shield in this form. _Shadow-Jump: The Shadow Warrior can shift out of the Material Plane and reappear a certain distance away ( 1st level 5 ft, 3rd level 10 ft, 5th level 15ft, 9th level 20ft) This does not provoke attacks of opportunity. This is considered the same as Dimension Door, but you can still move after you use it. This can be used once every 5 rounds, as long as you are in Shadow form _Shadow Weapon: At the 3rd level, the Shadow Warrior can add his shadow powers to his Main hand weapon when in Shadow Form. It starts as a +3 attack bonus, and +3 damage bonus. At level 5, this becomes a +5 attack Bonus and a +5 damage bonus. At level 9, it become a +10 attack bonus with +10 damage bonus. The shadow warrior can use his full strength modifier (on melee weapons, no Weapon Finesse) as well as half his Dexterity modifier. If ranged weapon is used or a melee weapon with the weapon finesse feat, The add their full Dexterity modifier and half their strength. Composite bows can add an extra 50% strength bonus. At level 5, the weapon is created, not just modified with shadow. _Shadow Proficiency: At level 1, the Shadow Warrior chooses to become proficient with one weapon. (this stacks with weapons focus and specialization feats) This gives the Shadow Warrior a +1 on attack rolls with that weapon and a +1 AC bonus to shield AC, because the Shadow Warrior does not use a shield. (this becomes the Shadow Weapon) _Shadow Specialization: Upon reaching level 4, the Shadow Warrior can take this feat, only after taking Shadow Proficiency. This gives the Shadow Warrior a +2 damage bonus with the selected weapon. Also grants +3 shield bonus to AC. _Weakness: The Shadow Warrior takes 50% more damage from positive energy. When on the Positive Energy Plane, the Shadow Warrior’s abilities are useless. When the Shadow Warrior has been hit by a positive energy attack, he loses his abilities for 1d8 rounds. |
| Tytalus03-28-07, 04:40 AM | Well... I made a Prestige Class, tell what you think. As is, it's pretty bad. (No offense, just honest opinion) It's very front-loaded (you get almost all abilities in some form at level 1 already), overpowered (the unmotivated to-hit and damage bonuses), and the mechanics don't fit the flavor well. _Class Description: The Shadow Warrior is a Combat character who has passed the barrier between the Material Plane, and being a Shadow. Why is this passing "between the material plane..." not reflected in the Prerequisites? And what does "and being a Shadow" even mean? A Shadow Warriors attacks do triple damage against Good-Aligned creatures and NPC’s. Unbalanced, and there's little motivation why this should be the case. Requirements: Base Attack Bonus +6 Alignment: Any non-lawful Skills: Intimidate 4 ranks, Listen 2 ranks, Move Silently 2 ranks Feats: Power Attack, Cleave, Whirlwind Attack Overall: the requirements do not reflect the flavor of the PrC. What do they have to do with being a shadow warrior? 2 ranks in Move Silently? Skills: why no Knowledge: The Planes? Feats: Given that WWA itself has 4 prerequisite feats you need a total of 7 feats to qualify. This is ridiculous. Only a fighter6 who spends all his feats properly can qualify by level 7. In other words, this basically excludes all other melee base classes from this PrC - is that intentional? _Class Abilities: Missing: BAB progression, saves. _Shadow Form: If you add special powers vs. a particular alignment, you should require an opposing alignment in the prerequisites. Not that non-Lawful does not oppose Good. _Shadow-Jump: How often is it usable? What kind of action is it (move/standard/swift/etc.)? _Shadow Weapon: Overpowered. _Shadow Specialization: Upon reaching level 4, the Shadow Warrior can take this feat, only after taking Shadow Proficiency. This gives the Shadow Warrior a +2 damage bonus with the selected weapon. Also grants +3 shield bonus to AC. So this is a feat? Not a class feature? What? You should mention whether these bonuses stack with Shadow Proficiency. _Weakness: The Shadow Warrior takes 50% more damage from positive energy. When on the Positive Energy Plane, the Shadow Warrior’s abilities are useless. How often is a SW going to be on the PEP? If meant as a balancing factor for all the ridiculous bonuses gained, it's not enough. |

| Bobby_Da_Fish03-28-07, 08:39 AM | How often is a SW going to be on the PEP? If meant as a balancing factor for all the ridiculous bonuses gained, it's not enough. Well, in my Adventure, you have to go there quite a lot. Annoying Really. |
