A few elite warriors strive above the median to become true masters of battle. It is they who perfectly calculate every blow and swing, dodge everything thrown at them. It takes more than blind ambition to fulfil what is expected of a Lightfoot Warrior, as many people have so far learnt. It takes true dedication to the study of battle, and natural skill for combat only presented in some. Hit Die: d8 Requirements To qualify to become a Lightfoot Warrior the character must meet the following requirements. Base Attack Bonus: +8 Skills: Concentration +5 ranks, Tumble +5 ranks Feats: Improved Initiative, Combat Expertise, Martial Weapon Proficiency (all), Weapon Focus (any melee) Special: Must undergo personal training with a master Lightfoot Warrior for one month prior to gaining any levels in the class Class Skills The Lightfoot Warrior class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are; Balance (Dex), Climb (Str), Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Escape Artist (Dex), Jump (Str), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Ride (Dex), Spot (Wis), Sense Motive (Wis), Tumble (Dex) Skill Points at each additional Level: 4 + Int modifier Weapon and Armour Proficiency: A Lightfoot Warrior gains no additional proficiencies. Combat Focus: A Lightfoot Warrior’s power stems from their ability to analyse a battle situation while standing in the middle of it. By spending a standard action making a concentration check against a DC of 15 they can enter a trance in which they are able to perform power calculations in the middle of a fray. They cannot take 10 on this check. This action incurs attacks of opportunity, the damage of which is added to the DC of the check. This trance lasts for a number of rounds equal to the Lightfoot Warrior’s intelligence bonus. At 5th level they can enter their combat focus as a move action that does not incur attacks of opportunity. Focused Strikes: At 1st Level the Lightfoot Warrior comprehends the most basic tenant of battle technique, to land every blow. While in their combat focus they gain an insight bonus to all melee attacks equal to their intelligence modifier, but no greater than their Lightfoot Warrior levels. Agile Combatant: At 3rd Level the Lightfoot Warrior comprehends the second tenant of Battle technique, to avoid the enemy’s attacks. While in their combat focus they gain a +1 dodge bonus to AC, which increases by an additional +1 every 3 levels. This bonus stacks with any other dodge bonuses and does not apply if the character is denied their dexterity bonus to AC. Heightened Reflexes: At 6th level the Lightfoot Warrior comprehends the third tenant of battle technique, to be ever on guard. When in their combat focus they gain Alertness as a bonus feat and gain a +2 bonus whenever they are the defender against any of the following abilities: Feint, Trip, Sunder, Overrun, Bull Rush, Disarm. Great Blows: At 8th Level the Lightfoot Warrior comprehends the fourth tenant of Battle technique, to make every hit count. A number of times per day equal to their intelligence bonus, when they are in their combat focus, they can add half their Lightfoot Warrior class levels to melee damage. This bonus damage is not multiplied when a critical hit is scored. Battle Mastery: At 10th Level the Lightfoot Warrior learns the most fundamental tenant of Battle Technique, to always be a step ahead of the opponent. While in their combat focus they gain a +2 bonus to initiative and gain the ability to make any number of attacks of opportunity per round. Also, whenever they act first during an encounter they gain a +1 insight bonus to all attacks. | ShotgunOrc06-23-07, 09:48 PM | Ah my dear Nerdlinger, another day another zany prestige class! So what do we have here.....hmmm. Seems pretty good. I don't like the flavour, but thats probably because I prefer charging around with an axe to carefully calculating my moves. It seems that for something with such high prerequisites this class isn't really that powerful....but you know, I do tend towards powergaming. I would suggest removing the whole combat focus thing. The abilities are not that powerful that they need a concentration check to use them. Other than that it seems pretty cool. Anyway, whatever you end up going with make sure you have fun with it! :D |
| LordFlatulence06-24-07, 03:20 AM | Thank you for your response, I'll just say that the concentration checks thing is based on flavour, so as you have said that you don't like it, then you may consider it underpowered. However, if you really believe the abilities to be underpowered, do you have any suggestions to how they could be changed? I'm open to whatever you will throw at me. I personally do not think I quite got the tenth level ability down quite right, I guess as it is sort of the epitomy of the class I expected more of it. Any thoughts? |
