| Bahriel03-18-08, 10:25 PM | Due to the (not so) recent changes in the way the wild shape of druids work, I've run into an issue wiht my master of many forms, the issue is really simple yet rather devastating. As the rules are written right now, a master of many forms who wild shapes into even a human form, would have all his gear meld into his new form leaving him defenceless (and quite possibly ridiculed). And that made me wonder, was it a glitch on the WoTC crew that the MoMf also melds his equipment into his new form, or was that on purpose. Basically, can i, without first dropping everything i own, change into another "humanoid" shape (as defined in the rules for polymorphing revisited, to be anything with two arms one head two legs and a torso, and minor variations thereover), And still keep my equipment useful?, other than through the armor only wild property. If yes, will this equipment change size to fit to my character? (a weapon or necklace or the armor) Also, i would prefer if any replies to this was made by The actual staff of wizards of the coast. |

Which is why you should always carry a spare set of clothes for various humanoids/monstrous humanoids/anything else that might wear them. And good luck getting that explicit reply. This is a community forum. And believe it or not, some of us actually know what we're doing. |

It has the updated crafting rules, sweet items, and Wilding Clasps, which make it even easier to pwn as a druid. And why won't your DM trust me? I'm known for actually knowing what I'm talking about, as well as most of the people here. And besides, sometimes you can get more done by holding a debate of it. It does work, as long as the parties are thinck-skulled. |

Any other physical attributes that the humanoid might gain extra (such as multiple limbs, wings, tails etc...) would cause the equipment to meld normally as the wild shape ability describes since the equipment would have to shift and/or change to accomodate these things. In my opinion, when you simply shape your appearence under your gear without affecting the outward composition and/or state (tearing, ripping, change of size etc...) shouldn't cause the gear to meld into you when you assume another form. Any shape (in or out) that would have to have the gear accomodate it would instantly cause it to meld and/or drop when you shift in/out. This is (again) my own opinion. |
