Well as the thread states im curious about peoples opinions of the best Class/PrC shapeshifter combos out there. I play campaigns not tied to any particular campaign i.e. greyhawk, forgotten realms so please include any of those you know of. Possibly include a little info on the class/PrC if it's from a special book/magazine.

Im looking forward to the responses.

I don't have the books on me so I can't get the exact best levels for it but...

Druid/Master of Many Forms/Warshaper. Death in a handbasket.

Tekas is correct, that's an awesome combo. Check out this link (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=639448) for the Master of Many Forms Bible.

You could also go Fgt 1/Mnk 19--Wiz 20 Gestalt, turn into war troll or hag, kill everything.

The UA shapeshifting ranger could also go for the MomF/warshaper combo, as I think the special wildshape would overcome the limitation shapeshifting rangers have on their wildshape. A level or two of Nature's warrior (the DR, perhaps) could also work out.

That's the variant I used. I had a Changeling shapeshifting ranger 5/MomF 8. It gave me a very good BAB, which helped in tight spaces. My favorite character I've ever had. :)

Mulhorandi Divine Minion/MoMF/Warshaper/X

Cheesy, but the correct answer.

Bah, you want cheesy? How about Druid 5/Planar Shepherd 10? Transform into outsiders with all of their abilities while having your party act ten times to your opponents one (Manifest Planar Bubble: Dal Quor).

  :censored: :help:

That skips cheezy I think and goes straight to sick... good idea though as far as naughty goes. I've never even taken a look at Planar Shepherd and I don't allow it in my games considering the amount of hate for it's poor design has generated.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Planar Shepherd.

I don't play in Eberron so if there was a base D&D Planar Shepherd i'd check it out. What about the Master Transmogrifist what is the consensus on this PrC??

You know what's really sad? This is LEVEL 15. A sorceror still only has 7th level spells and the druid/PS has busted the campaign....

Well, that happens routinely, just not to this degree :) . I need to actually see the PS though, so far I've only heard of its prowess in making DMs' hearts break.

monk1/ranger wildshape variant 5/MoMF 10/ warshaper 4

Take assume supernatural ability, if you're good and your dm isn't a jerk who hates BoED take vow of poverty since its bonuses stack with wildshaping forms, the monk is awesom since you get to add your wis to AC (arguably the only stat you need, that and maybe some cha) you get improved grapple which in many forms is fantastic, and if whatever you're fighting has bad AC you can throw a couple unarmed strikes in your full attack routine.

Fun build.

Ok. This is where I'll disagree... most of the super good or super evil books don't really make a lot of sense... they're semi-broken as far as what the things they do, do... and the only thing that sort of makes them balanced ( )is the roleplay restrictions that I honestly don't think anyone I've ever played with can pull off... I think of a guy who I played with who played a paladin just so he could become a blackguard...

Book of Exalted Deeds is just... wrong. And I mean wrong as in I can't agree with the 'party line.' I dislike it's stance on alignments. Good accomplished by 'tainted' means still gets the job done... :plotting:

VoP is hardly broken, and it makes up for the WotC polymorph/wildshape hating (which I, and my gaming group, choose to ignore). The benefits from the feat are great sure, but they're perfectly in line with a party of average wealth.

What about the Master Transmogrifist what is the consensus on this PrC??

I can not tell you what the consensus on this one is, but I would consider it the most powerfull (not necessarily the most fun) shapechanger PrC. You will typically have access to more forms earlier than a MoMF (polymorph > wildshape) and in terms of duration, flexibilty etc. of your shapechanging you will be better than with other shapechanging PrCs. You also get access to the Ex abilities of the forms you take (at lvl 8) and at lvl 10 you may even combine abilities of two forms into one to some degree. Maybe most important of all, you gain some levels of spellcaster on top of that. The disadvantages are that you will usually not be able to enter the PrC before lvl 8 and the best abilities of the class come rather late (at 8,10). Also you get "only" 6 advances in caster level which means that you will not be able to get access to 9th lvl spells pre epic.

The "best" choice for a shapechanger PrC is somewhat dependent on the campaign, especially on the range of levels it will pass. The Master Transmongrifist for example reaches the height of its power at char level 18. At this level you would generally be a much better shapechanger by playing a straight druid with access to shapechange past lvl 17 (Sadly, shapechange still is the best way of shapechanging available). If your campaign will reach around lvl 15, druid5/MoMF10 is an option, although a wiz7/MaTraM8 will be more powerfull due to his way better spellcasting. Below lvl 10 druid/MoMF may be the best option.

If you do not mind cheesy stuff and more importantly your DM does not mind it, you may consider also options like the before mentioned Divine Minion, Planar Shepherd, Sarrukh abuses, convince your DM to let you play a CR4 Malaugrym from Monsters of Faerun (or use the assume Su ability feast on it or any other creature that can shapechange at will), ...
