Mounted Archer PrC??? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-14-07, 10:32 AM I'm looking for a Mounted Archer PrC in the style of mongols , hunns or tartars.
In my homebrew campaign there is a nomadic clans similar to the horsenomads of our history. So my group tries to stop the march of these horsenomads and now I need a PrC based on mongolian culture. So I ask you people, if someone did a PrC like that before.

05-14-07, 06:12 PM I do not recall any mounted archery PrC's offhand, but Wild Plains Outrider is one of my favorites for mounted characters. Be warned, it is only at its best when used with paladin or ranger levels.

05-15-07, 08:49 PM actually there's one from Oriental Adventures....Shinjo Elite Guard and, I believe, the Otaku Rider or somesuch. One is more lancer based, the other deals better with archery, but both are highly suitable.

And the Unicorn Clan is based on modified Mongols, of course.

Otaku Rider would have to be some kind of D20 Modern PrC. Req's would resemble "Knowledge(Anything Japanese) ranks: Too many" and "Life < 1".

05-19-07, 07:01 AM The Shaaryan Hunter is quite good imo. The (FR) Crinti Shadow Marauder (Shining South) can be somewhat useful for mounted archers (extra feat, shadow walk to get out of or into problems). I could also imagine you going for the Wild Plains Outrider - it improves your mount and makes it even quicker, which can help if someone is trying to catch up with you.

05-19-07, 06:25 PM You could look at my Dust Rider, it has no real type of combat focus, but it can easily be used for one with its abilities just as it can be used to make a mounted melee specialist or mounted caster (Though a caster would take some work with no additional progression).
