Im playing a Kobold Monk and Im thinking about making an interesting little prestige class for him. The idea is basically a monk that, every time he hits with an unarmed strike, it tears some of the Ki or soul or something outta the enemy. Two questions: 1. Is there anything like this in a official WoTC book? 2. Any ideas for the abilities? |

There is a prc, though it's not specifically for monk, called the soul eater in the Book of Vile Darkness. It does negative enery type effects that could fit well with a ki, or life force, attack. There are also a couple of stunning fist feats that do some sort of ability damage. There is also the monk of the long death, another prc out of the Faerun books (I forget which one) that gets a death attack like an assassin. If you snag a few levels in a casting class and then prc into enlightened fist, you could specialize in using necromancy spells with your unarmed attacks. That could function as some sort of ki destroying attack as well. Radical Taoist also put a build over on the CO boards for a monk/warmind that used psionic powers to buff himself and drain a enemies' strength. It's scary effective. It used a different race, but it could be adapted to fit your needs... Probably a monk/psychic warrior using the Talashadora(?) feat. |

I'm not saying you shouldn't expand the idea to a prestige class, but I don't think it demands one. You could expand on that, though. For example, when you make a successful stunning attack you heal some damage while they lose some. Or some other small benefit to represent the part of their soul that you assimilate. Just an idea. |

VILE FIST [Ki] You can use your ki to temporary channel corrupt energies from within your soul. Prerequisites: Improved Unarmed Strike, Stunning Fist, Ki Strike (Evil) Benefit: As a swift action, you may expend one of your uses of your Stunning Fist to imbue your unarmed strike vile energy. Until the beginning of your next turn all your unarmed deal 1 point of vile damage with each blow. Against good aligned outsiders and deathless creatures you deal an extra 1d4 points of vile damage instead. Vile damage can only be healed by magic on hollowed ground. When you select this feat, you gain an additional use of you Stunning Fist. |
