Skills: Knowledge (Arcane) 5 ranks, Spellcraft 10 ranks, Sense Motive 2 ranks Feats: Improved Counterspell, Improved Initiative, Reactive Counterspell Spells: Able to cast 3rd-level spells, including Dispel Magic Class Skills The Spellcoutering Master’s class skills(and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Knowledge (all skills, taken individually)(Int), Profession (Wis), Sense Motive (Wis) and Spellcraft (Int). Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier. Class Features All the following are class features of Spellcountering Master prestige class. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Spellcountering Masters gain no proficiency with any weapon or armor. Spells per Day/ Spells Known: At each level except the 1st, a Spellcountering Master gains new spells per day (and spells known, if applicable) as if she had also gained a level in a spellcasting class to which she belonged before adding the prestige class level. She does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (such as the bonus feat sometimes gained by a wizard). If she had more than one spellcasting class before becoming Spellcountering Master, she must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day and spells known. Spontaneous Dispel Magic(Ex): A Spellcountering Master can channel stored spell energy into Dispel Magic spell that she did not prepare ahead of time. At 1st level, a Spellcountering Master can exchange any of her prepared spell or spell slot of 3rd level or higher for Dispel Magic. This function only works when she is countering an opponent’s spell, whether she has readied an action or not. Spellcounter Training(Ex): At 2nd level, a Spellcountering Master gains +2 insight bonus on Spellcraft and Dispel checks involved in spellcountering. Defensive Counter(Su): At 3rd level, a Spellcountering Master gains +2 insight bonus on one saving throw against the spell that she has successfully identified but failed to counter, if she is targeted by the spell or included in its area of effect. Double Counter(Ex): Beginning at 4th level, a Spellcountering Master can reactively make an additional spellcounter attempt each round in which she has already used a readied action to couter a spell. This spellcounter attempt still takes her next standard action. Improved Spellcounter Training(Ex): At 5th level, a Spellcountering Master gains +4 insight bonus on Spellcraft and Dispel checks involved in counterspell. These bonus replace that provided by normal Spellcounter Training. Spontaneous Greater Dispel Magic(Ex): A Spellcountering Master can channel stored spell energy into Greater Dispel Magic spell that she did not prepare ahead of time. At 6th level, a Spellcountering Master can exchange any of her prepared spell or spell slot of 6th level or higher for Greater Dispel Magic. This function only works when she is countering an opponent’s spell, whether she has readied an action or not. Counter Spell-like Ability(Ex): The intensive training of spellcounter makes a Spellcountering Master even aware of the presence of spell-like ability cast by opponents. Beginning at 7th level, a Spellcountering Master can counter opponent’s spell-like ability or Invocation, however, she must make a Spellcraft check to identify the spell-like ability, even if she is using a Dispel Magic or Greater Dispel Magic. The DC of such Spellcraft check is 20 higher than the DC of corresponding spell, whose caster level equals to the caster level of this spell-like ability. A Spellcountering Master can use this ability 3 times per day. Master Spellcounter Training(Ex): At 8th level, a Spellcountering Master gains +5 insight bonus on Spellcraft and Dispel checks involved in counterspell and she can always take 10 on either check except in the situation mentioned below. The bonus replace that provided by Improved Spellcounter Training. Greater Defensive Counter(Su): At 9th level, a Spellcountering Master gains +3 insight bonus on all saving throws(if the spell allows more than one saving throws or more than once) against the spell that she has successfully identified but failed to counter, if she is targeted by the spell or included in its area of effect. This bonus replace that provided by Defensive Counter. Immediate Counter(Ex): The training of spellcounter finally gives a Spellcountering Master one kind of special awareness of the swiftest spells being cast. At 10th level, a Spellcountering Master can also attempt to counter spells which are cast as immediate action or swift action, including quickened spells. However, she must make a Spellcraft check to identify the spell, even if she is using a Dispel Magic or Greater Dispel Magic, and she can not take 10 on the following Spellcraft or Dispel check. If the opposite spell is quickened, the DC of Spellcraft check is 10 higher than the DC of non-metamagiced version. If she has not readied an action when the opponent's spell is cast, she must spend her next standard action to make this attempt.A Spellcountering Master can use this ability 3 times per day. Prerequisites: Improved Counterspell, Improved Initiative. Benefit: Once per round, you can counterspell an opponent’s spell even if you have not readied an action to do so. This counterspell action takes the place of your next turn. You can’t use this feat when you are flat-footed. Normal: Without this feat, you must ready an action each round that you wish to use a counterspell. |
