03-08-07, 09:49 PM hey im wanting to play an assain but my other players are a palidin and cleric (good alignment) and a scout what is a good wa of doing this with out letting the other players know that i am taking this class please help me thanks

03-08-07, 10:03 PM First, punctuation is good. Rogues with punctuation RULE.

Second, they don't need to know that you're an assassin. Basically, as long as you do your death attack stuff out of the pally's sight, your character should be probably be able to explain the spells with "some wizard training."

But if you think your paladin is going to attack you because you are an assassin, but the character doesn't know it, I suggest talking to your DM.

03-09-07, 01:18 PM If it's a matter of the paladin detecting evil, try to convince your DM you'll play a neutral assassin. Let's face it: even the "good" guys need a dagger in the dark sometimes, and who cares whether the villainous slaver dies by a righteous sword or a dose of diabolical poison? The ends are the same, and ultimately the bastard got what was comming to him.

Honestly,this could turn into another "Paladins and why they suck/rock" discussion very quickly. So let's avert that by asking your DM if they'll allow a non-evil assassin. If they won't, just play a rogue who learn to use poison and takes a level of Sorcerer. You'll get spontaneous spellcasting, a familiar to help deliver attacks, and your sneak attacks. Take Craft: Poison or Alchemy to make your poisons and see if you can find a feat that allows you to handle them without risk. Really, an assassin is defined not by a class, but by their profession. A wizard, monk, etc could be an assassin without the PrC. It's all in how you play. :)

03-09-07, 04:49 PM If you can't convince you DM to allow a neutral aligned Assassin and have access to the Book of Exalted deeds there is a PrC that is good aligned and similar in concept to the Assassin, the Slayer of Domial. You might want to look into that.

03-09-07, 09:01 PM Start taking levels of Lurk. Basically the psionic assassin, but without the alignment restriction. And they can do some serious damage, too.
