oloknotwise 09-17-07, 11:04 PM	So I am about to start a Play-by-Post game, and I have decided to play a Rogue, since I have never played on before. However, I am not sure of a good PrC for my character. Here is some info: The character is a bit of a thief, but he is also a bit of an anti-hero. He is good with a bow and and can hide pretty well. I am also looking for something to compliment sneak attack. However, Shadowdancer is kind of out of the question. Books: Cores + XPH PHB II DMG II Complete Arcane, Adv., Divine, Psi, Champ, Mage, Warrior Dungeonscape Cityscape Tyrants of the Nine hells MIC SPC Thanks in advanced for any help. The_Shaman 09-18-07, 07:14 AM	TBH, I think you can do without a PrC. If you want one, for rogues PrCs are a way to specialize, so you might want to start by deciding what you want to specialize in. For example, I'm a fan of Nightsong Enforcer, but it's a fighting PrC and loses a bit in skill points (4+int rather than 8+int, 4d6 sneak attack over 10 levels, full BAB). Plus, as a sneak-attack based PrC, I'm pretty sure it works out better with TWF than with ranged attacks (you can't flank with bows for the most part). In fact, the only way I think you could get many sneak attacks with a bow per round on a regular basis is if you can deny your enemies their dex to AC - which calls for something like Greater Invisibility :)
j3st3r 09-18-07, 08:56 AM	IMHO assassin has great spells to boost their ranged sneak attacks and a lot of other great spells to support sneak/death attacks (like greater invisibility).

dman11235 09-19-07, 12:58 PM	Wow, now if everyone asking for help could do that with their characters we'd be set. I'm a big fan of straight rogue, maybe a level of fighter or two for the feat. My customization for rogues usually comes from feat and skill selection. The_Shaman got it. Rogue PrCs tend to specialize you, so if you want to specialize then figure that out first. Also, what's with your latest post The_Shaman?

oloknotwise 09-19-07, 10:30 PM	Well, there is one serious problem with the avenger and the assassin (even one without the kill pre-req): Dox is Chaotic Good, and he is intended to be that way. I just decided to become a Nightsong Infiltrator, since the group has two major martial characters (well, a Barbarian and a dragon shaman with all combat feats). Thanks for the help! ;)
The_Shaman 09-20-07, 06:46 AM	No problem, have fun... but given that there are already a few decent warriors, make sure you have a decent int score to get the useful skill points before you enter the PrC. Unless you're slugging it out 24/7, having skills (and prompting the DM to use them) is quite important - and as a (part-time) rogue, most skills are in your field of expertise.
