I want to make a class based on Warders in the wheel of time series. They (in the book) magically bond themselves with the person they have to protect. i was thinking of making the class (in-game) have to have a reason for fighting, person, place, idea, so on. In the books they can go longer than average people without food/water by days, they are deadly with any weapon or bare-handed (most use swords). All that being said i have never made a class before so can anyone help me pleas?

There is a class called "Devoted defender" in a 3.0 booklet called Sword & Fist. That class could likely work for you. Apart from that it sounds like this concept is better filled by making a couple of feats, and use the current classes (fighter in particular).

I don't know anything about the wardens you speak of as I haven't read the books, but it sounds like they are some sort of bodyguards... right?

They are bodygaurds exept the people they protect are sorceresses. I read up on the devoted defender and its not exactally what i was thinking. The defender focuses on defense, but the warders in the book are all about protection through eliminating the threat, thank you for your input.

Well, full BAB is a good base for a PrC that wants to start "eliminating." However, for a more offensive "guardian", you could pick pretty much any warrior class. Fluffwise, I think the Runescarred Berserkers fill a similar role as "protecting" the hathran, but I'm not sure you're looking for a barbarian derivative.

There's already a Warder prestige class included in the third party WoT Campaign setting(possibly for 3.0, I'm not entirely sure), so you might want to check that one out.
I actually play a warder at the moment in our WoT game, but we are using some GURPS homebrew so that won't be of much help.

If you want to make your own base class I suppose it would be in the vein of the paladin. D10 HD, good BaB and martial weapon profiency, as well as having a set of special abilities that are only retained if they uphold their code(which in the Warders case would be to protect/obey his Aes Sedai/Other caster).
Special abilities at least include being able to survive with less nourishment and sleep, and perhaps some kind of emphatic link between Warder and Aes Sedai, similar to that of a mage and his familiar.

Sounds like a good idea, I'll give some input...

-10 level PrC progression
-D10 Hit Dice
-Full BAB
-Bonus Feats every 3 levels, sort of like fighter, but not quite...(1, 3, 6, 9 etc...)?
-Good Fort. and Will saves.
-Have them permanently under the effect of a Ring of Sustenance, should be obtained at level 1 or 2
-Give empathic link variant, works at any distance, but less the farther away.
-Something like, if there protectee is in danger, make DC x or do nothing but attempt to eliminate the threat to said person. (example: PC 1-a spellcaster, likely arcane- "bonded" PC 2.... PC 1 is under attack by Bugbear. PC 2 must make Will save- DC 20 for arguments sake- or do nothing other than move towards said Bugbear and start attacking it.)
-Give a few maneuvers from disciplines in TOB for the fancy swordplay things they do. Can't remember any of the names atm....

That's all I got, personally I'm a fan of The Wheel of Time, and I'd like to see this go through.
