Hello,

I searched hard for any-kind of “triple-caster” (arc/div/psi) but could not find any. It was much easier in ADD2 (Dark Sun (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=290)’s psionicist/mage/cleric and I see no reason why it could not be available in other settings except that TSR/Wizards have always had mixed feelings about psionics). I also do not want this kind of silly 10-prestige-class things. A simple feature shall have a simple answer.

So, ultimately, I decided to create my own prestige class. I think it is underpowered, but this is fine for me (BAB is more than secondary and that will be a utility/NPC class). The right-most column is for comparison.

Addition in royal blue

Conflux

Hit Die: d4. was d3

Requirements
To qualify to become a conflux, a character must fulfill all the following criteria. Skills: Knowledge (arcana) 6 ranks, Knowledge (religion) 6 ranks, Knowledge (psionics) 6 ranks Spells: Able to cast 2nd-level divine spells and 2nd-level arcane spells. Psionics: Able to manifest 2nd-level powers. Others: Must be consistent across the three paths.Abilities: Intelligence

“Consistency” here means that the focus of the conflux must remain the same in all three paths. Example foci: Generalist (wizard/archivist/erudite) deception (illusionnist/priest of Leira-Cyric/telepath) …Class skills
Concentration Craft (Int) Knowledge (all skills, taken individually) (Int) Profession (Wis) Spellcraft (Int). Psicraft (Int)Possibily also: Decipher Script (Int) Diplomacy Gather Information Heal SearchPsion does not have Decipher Script, and the others are Archivists-only class skills. Mono
1. Wizard 1 Arc 1 1
2. Archivist 1 Div 1 -
3. Erudite 1 Psi 1 2
4. Wizard 2 -
5. Wizard 3 Arc 2 3
6. Archivist 2 -
7. Archivist 3 Div 2 4
8. Erudite 2 -
9. Erudite 3 Psi 2 5
10. Conflux 1 all 3 -
11. Conflux 2 6
12. Conflux 3 all 4 -
13. Conflux 4 7
14. Conflux 5 all 5 -
15. Conflux 6 8
16. Conflux 7 all 6 -
17. Conflux 8 9
18. Conflux 9 all 7 -
19. Conflux 10 --
20. Conflux 11 all 8
---------- E P I C ----------
21. Conflux 12
22. Conflux 13 all 9
For fist, this is epic, something I don’t want.
Second, maybe skills requirements shall be 9 ranks instead of 6 (since Intelligence is the premium for this class, that may not be that hard).

Second, it certainly sucks a lot of low- to middle-level, but is getting better at high-level. Since this would not be a class for fighting, but more of a utility caster/manifester or a NPC, combat viability does not matter much. I tend to consider this class as underpowered, so maybe allowing one spell level per character level twice (to make it fit the 20-level barrier) would not be to much. The alternative would be to require only first level casting, but this would be way too much overpowered.

Any input? Thank you.

I guess I don't see the need for a triple threat like this, but If you're going for the 2nd Edition Templar feel I'd say lose the "no restricted schools or disciplines" thing. You're leaving out too many manifesters. Or, as the Templar was a vassal of a tyrant, restrict the schools and disciplines they can have. Sorry I don't have more constructive criticism than that other than to add a class skill list, and go for a d4 hit dice. I always thought d3 wa a messy concept.

<troll>DD3 is just making a move backward. While modularity (like ADD2 multiclass) is clearly the way to go, DD3 goes back to monolithic. Irk. Fortunately, they finally learnt something from HERO and GURPS, with feats.</troll>

Now about your reply: d3 was an attempt to make it weaker, class skill is very easy to do so I was focusing on the problematic part. I guess a mix-and-max of mystic theurge, psychic theurge and cerebremancer shall do it.

Since I plan to use DD3 (even if the class system sucks), I was considering the Erudite. But you're still right. Maybe an addition like "choices must be consistent across the classes: Wizard/Erudite/Archvist/, Illusionist/Telepath/Deity of Mischief… Roleplay reason, of course.

Thanks for your inputs!

I’m also wondering—I don’t have Libris Mortis here—if Ur-Priest/Cerebremancer is a possible 9/9/9 sub-epic?
