| phoenixgod200503-27-07, 07:13 PM | A player of mine was very interested in the Folc Lyricist prestige class but wants to alter it to make it Ranger/Druid centered rather than Bard/Druid centered. So I've been tinkering. Requirements: BaB +5 Spellcasting: Can cast 2nd level Druid spells and 1st level Ranger Spells Feats: Skill Focus Survival or Skill Focus knowlege Nature Greenwarden Skills (4+) list is the Ranger's + Spellcraft Saves Good For Good Will Poor Ref BAB Full Each Greenwarden Level stacks with Ranger and Druid levels for purposes of spellcasting. Each Greenwarden Level also stacks with class levels for purpose of Favored Enemy and Wildshaping. I'm not sure about what should happen to the animal companion or the requirments. It may be too easy to get into. So what do you think. Good, bad, or unplayable? |

If all you are looking to do is further an aspect of each class then it strikes me a little more as a feat then an actual PrC of it's own. Something along the lines of the Ascetic Rogue and Swift Stalker. My suggestions: Druidic Hunter Prerequisites: Favored Enemy and Nature Sense Levels of Druid stack with levels of Ranger for the purposes of determining Druid Spells per Day. Also, the character gains one additional spell per day per level of effective Druid level they possess. The character does not gain spells per day for the ranger class. If the character has already gained the ability to cast spells as a ranger these spells per day are lost. The character may choose their spells from the Druid or Ranger spell list. Levels of Druid stack with levels of Ranger for determining Animal Companion abilities. Levels of Ranger stack with levels of Druid for the purposes of determining Favored Enemy bonuses. You could also remove the the line about the animal companion and just let the character gain two, weaker animal companions. |

Why is the Fortitude save good, what makes this character hardy? Ditto only with BAB. Seems like you're giving a Druid full BAB, along with ranger spell casting, at the cost of their animal companion. Seems over-powered, in my opinion. Take out the stacking with wildshape and it'd be fine. enygmatic_me's feat looks great to me, in my opinion, maybe a little bit strong, but at first glance it seems fine. |

| phoenixgod200503-29-07, 03:09 AM | Thanks for your imput. I gave it a good Fort Save because I figure this guy is a tough, leathery outdoorsman type which to me says good Fort over reflex. I realize that stacking spell casting levels is good but Rangers are only semi-spell users and I don't think it's overpowering. Thinking back on it the shapeshifting is a little much so I will probably eliminate it all together. Or I may just go with the feat. Seems simple enough :) Jon |

Do you know any other classes that one level in them will advance 2 spellcasting classes (besides the Mystic Theurge, whose specialty is ONLY advancing those classes, with 2 bad saves and horrible BAB). If you remove the shapeshifting synergy and only focus on one spellcasting class it should be fine, IMO. |
