Has anyone ever played a noctumancer? What are ya'lls thoughts on it?

I've never played one, but I am the DM for a party in which there is a noctumancer, and it is a great prestige class for those focusing on countering, as the abilities really help that kind of mage out a lot. Also, its a great way to edge into the shadow casting system or use it while still being able to use something traditional.

I do, I'm 20th level now and I started as a 4th level Shadowcaster. Its great because you can have access to both arcane and shadow items. I was planning to be just a shadowcaster but with no other wizard or sorcerer in the party, I took levels of evoker so I could use arcane items that we found. It is espcially great to play against spell-casting bosses at the end of a dungeon. You can really free up the other party members actions when they don't have to worry about spells. If you become a noctumancer, get the black magic path. Warp Spell give extra dispellings and you can cast an apprentice mystery for free. I can stop a spell and cast flicker or umbral touch during their turn! It is really good. You don't need the dispelling path because you can do that with spells. Happy gaming.
