Opinion needed on prestige class choice. [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-14-07, 05:30 PM In a campaign I am currently playing in there are only 2 people playing. The GM has allowed us to play the gestalt variant unearthed arcana, so I decided to play a palidin cleric. I want to go into ordained champion from complete champion. Is this a good choice for a gestalt that is going into ordained champion? or would another be better? would you choose something else entirely? Would you choose a diffrent prestige class?

I'm not sure there is ANY prestige class you would want to use if you are playing gestalt. Your character currently is FAR more effective and powerful then just about any PrC you could take, you will only weaken youself by entering a PrC.

How is this? A PrC does not take up both class "slots" for gestalt. You just can't choose two PrC's at the same level.

@OP: Sorry, but I hate Paladins and don't have CC yet. I can't be of much help to you.

PrC's are gennerally more powerful than base classes. Gestalt is already a VERY powerful option, combining two PrC's at once would just make it too powerful. The gestalt rules can be found here (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/gestaltCharacters.htm).

I am currently in two separate games using gestalt. Both with only two PC's. And I'm actually getting to be a PC!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a very fun variant. Only good for parties of no more than four, preferrably less than four. It is basically an option for small parties to have all their bases covered.

08-17-07, 12:27 PM If I were going Gestalt, I wouldn't pick Paladin/Cleric but taking just one PRC is fine if you can find a nice one but...maybe you could take a Paladin type PRC and Cleric at the same time?

08-20-07, 02:39 PM here is my reasoning for going into ordained champion. The palidin and cleric both get turn attempts per day and I am going to have alot of things that I can use turn attempts for. When I go into ordained champion I will be able to turn my turn attempts into smite attempts and into more than I could do if I just had divine feats I would tell you more but the book is at home. I am also tring to make him the bane of all undead. I could use some help getting the appropriate enchantments to weapons and armor because I do not have enough room for them all. also suggestions of specific weapons and armors and possibly Item sets and rune staffs would be nice.
