Alignment: Chaotic Good Base Attack Bonus +5 Skills: Knowledge (Religion) 4 ranks Feats: Iron Will Special: Rage or Frenzy ability, must be Literate. HD: d12 Attack Fort Ref Will Level Bonus Save Save Save Special 1st +1 +2 +0 +0 Devilcrusher 2nd +2 +3 +0 +0 Aura of Courage, Extend Buffs 3rd +3 +3 +1 +1 Rage 1/day, Resist Law 4th +4 +4 +1 +1 Indomitable Will 5th +5 +4 +1 +1 Aligned Weapon The Ordained Brute's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Knowledge (religion), Knowledge (the planes), Listen (Wis), Ride (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), Spot (Wix), Survival (Wis), and Swim (Str). Skills: 4+Int mod per level. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: An ordained brute is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, light armor, medium armor, and shields (except tower shields). Devilcrusher (Su) 1/day an ordained brute may channel his hatred for devils through his weapon. Any weapon wielded by the ordained brute is treated as a Devil bane weapon for a number of rounds equal to his class level plus his Wisdom modifier (if positive). Aura of Courage (Su) Beginning at 2nd level, an ordained brute is immune to fear (magical or otherwise). Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects. While raging, this aura extends an additional 10 feet. This ability functions while the ordained brute is conscious, but not if she is unconscious or dead. Extend Buffs (Su) Whenever a divine spell is cast upon an ordained brute, he may choose to have that spell effect him as if the spell was modified by the Extend Spell feat. This does not change the level of the spell. Rage (Ex) At 3rd level, an ordained brute gains an additional use of their Rage ability. Resist Law (Sp) Whenever an ordained brute rages, he is effected as though the spell protection of law were cast upon him. Indomitable Will (Ex) While in a rage, an ordained brute of 4th level or higher gains a +4 bonus on Will saves to resist enchantment spells. This bonus stacks with all other modifiers, including the morale bonus on Will saves he also receives during his rage. Aligned Weapon (Su) Any weapon an ordained brute wields is considered chaotic and good for the purpose of penetrating damage reduction |

I would also lower the BAB requirement, most classes start around +5 so they see some use. unless for some reason you want it higher. |
| imakuni6710-23-07, 12:53 PM | I made the higher requirement for the fact it gets indomitable will, but I decided it can be scaled back. How I worded it, it is all at once. |
| bkdubs12310-23-07, 02:28 PM | Also, however, how you worded it, if the character has no wisdom bonus they get no benefit. I think it should last at least for 3 rounds +wis modifier. All in all though, a pretty cool class. |
| imakuni6710-23-07, 04:18 PM | character has no wisdom bonus they get no benefit. That's just fine. Most barbarians I've seen are more wise than intelligent anyway, either way a bane ability of even a few rounds per day can be pretty strong. |
| bkdubs12310-23-07, 05:59 PM | okay... so if your character has 10 wisdom they can't even use the ability. Bane gives +2 to hit and +2d6 to damage. If your character has 16 wisdom he can use it for three rounds a day against devils (I assume you mean LE outsiders?) for a potential of a few decent hits with a cap of +24d6 extra damage. Compare that to a rogue sneak attacking with a Devilbane weapon and its laughable. Also, I've never seen a Barbarian raise his wisdom as he levels, and I've never seen a Barbarian with more than 14 wisdom. this ability certainly doesn't encourage the Barbarian to increase his wisdom either. Either make the benefit more substantial to increase the Barbarian's desire to raise Wisdom (or work out some other abilities to encourage increased wisdom), or allow it to work more often each day. An extra 3 rounds a day on top of an already low wisdom isn't gamebreaking. Even if you encourage the Barbarian to increase his wisdom through other features I'd still recommend you make Devilcrusher last 1 round + wisdom modifier. |
