PC with BAB + casting help... [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-12-07, 01:38 AM anyone know of another PC that has full bab and full casting like the abjurant champion does? I need only 5 levels of bab/casting more. i cant seem to think of any right now (allthough it is 1:38am).

04-12-07, 12:02 PM Unfortunately, Abjurant Champion is the only PrC that has both full BAB and full spellcasting progression. The other PrCs you could take, either have one or the other...not both.

04-12-07, 12:10 PM Yeah, you're SOL on the full BAB and Spell casting. Good extras would be Eldritch Knight (though its features are kinda bland) that only loses on spell casting level, Jade Pheonix Mage loses two but has some nice abilities, but requires ToB.
A one level dip into Dragon Slayer nets you 1 BAB and 1 Spell Casting.
Can't remember if Spell Sword loses a caster level at 1st or second, same with Blade Singer (though you need to be elf). If neither of those two lose a caster level at 1st then you could cobble together 2 (3 if your an elf) levels of full BAB and Spell casting out of five.

04-12-07, 12:38 PM Spellsword grants you new spells at every odd level (as well as ignore arcane spell failure). Each even level gives you some ability. So, if you want 5 levels, you'll only get 3 caster levels. This is largely why I like talking only 3 levels of spellsword. If you need just 3 levels, those first 3 are in every way superior to the first 3 levels of eldritch knight. Also, 3 levels gets ignore ASF 15%, which is enough to cast at 0% ASF in twilight mithril fullplate.

If you take 5 levels of eldritch knight though, you will get 4 caster levels. So, at the expence of better saves and hit dice, you'll get one extra caster level.

04-12-07, 08:34 PM Spellsword 1 + 4 levels of any 3/4 BAB full casting class. There are lots. Sacred Exorcist, and Master of the Yuirwood spring to mind.

What books are they from?

04-12-07, 10:26 PM Master of the Yuirwood is Unapproachable East, Sacred exorcist is CDivine iirc. Some others are:

Grey Hand Enforcer - City of Splendors, 4/5 casting, full BAB
Windwalker - Faiths and pantheons, full casting, full BAB (divine)
Verdant lord - Masters of the Wild (3.0) - full casting, full BAB
Sacred Fist - CDivine, 8/10 casting (acc. to the rulings, the book suggests 10/10), full BAB

Edit: Topaz Guardian - Lords of Madness, full BAB, 3/5 casting, requires 1 LoM feat.

If you have psionics, the Sanctified mind and the slayer are also valid.

04-13-07, 12:00 AM OK, i reworked my build some and have come to the point where i have just 3 levels left where i need +3 bab and at least +2 arcane casting (REALLY rather get the +3 casting in there). heres the catch, can we do it with out any extra feats other than the ones i will allready need? (combat casting/melodic casting/the extra bard songs per day one) those are the ones i will NEED, the others i plan on chosing I truely doubt a PC needs them for requirements. I know i can just take eldrich knight and be done with it, but thats boring. Also i can just take Spell sword (i have the armor requirements) 3 levels and be done, but that too is just boring caus i will not need the ASF% ability they get and then they are the same as the eldrich knight (with a slightly better will save). the Spell sword is my current choice, but if someone can get me that last +1 casting I really want I'd would be eternally greatful - or at least some more interesting abilities than the spellsword gets. I know I will be taking 1 level of spellsword in everyones advice so the only gap we now need to fill is a +2bab and +2 arcane casting gap.
