I'll PEACH this if you PEACH my Good aligned Necro ^_^

Seems pretty good, my recommendations are:

Increase the skill requirements to 8, maybe add Craft Alchemy too. No one should be able to enter a PrC at 4th level, 6th is fine though.

Extra Kick really isn't all that great. There aren't a lot of spells worth it. I think maybe allowing the brewer to do it at +1 caster level at no extra cost would be better.

Personally, aside from the increase in skill reqs, I love this class. You don't even need to bump the skills up to 8; 6 or 7 would do (I think this is a great low-level specialization PrC, much like the Stoneblessed class out of RoS).

I would have to agree that I'm not sure which beneficial effect a Brewmaster could put in with the Extra Kick ability. Might want to rework that into a static bonus or one that scales very slightly with character level.

Extra Kick and Special Blend just seem to be the same ability in my opinion. You could just have worded it something along the lines of"

Special Blend At 2nd level the Brewmaster may add an additional, 0-level, spell effect to a potion at the time of creation. This costs an additional 5 xp to the creation cost. At 3rd level the Brewmaster may add an addition, 1st level, spell effect to a potion at the time of creation. This costs and additional 20 xp to the creation cost.

The way you have it now is that it seems that it has been spread out to fill out the levels.

Have you looked at the Master Alchemist PrC? It is thematically similar to this one, but is 10 levels.

No I have not looked at the Master Alchemist because I am not making an alchemist in this prestige class (I am working on my own it may be up soon) I just wanted to make a class that was good at potions. Since potion making is not really a 10 or even 5 level prestige class 3 levels pretty much does all that I wanted it to do. If it were any more level it would take up too much of the character's career and offer little benefit.

I have edited the class.

Master Alchemist is based on brewing potions.
Where is it then?

Magic of Faerun, pg 34. It decreases the amount of time taken to brew (lowest level allows you to brew two potions a day) and eventually allows you to brew potions that replicate up to 9th level spells.

Ah that way I never hear of it. I don't have that book.

Good work, take off every Zig.

This reminds me a bit of the Dark Apothecary from Sword and Sorcery's Warcraft RPG, in the Lands of Conflict book. That one gave you fast brew so you could brew a potion in an hour, let you progress in spell levels slowly, let you identify potions by smell instead of taste, and pay no XP cost for brewing potions. One of the unothodox benefits of the class, however, was that you slowly gained poisonous blood. This came in handy for me in one of TimeSpike's games...

I was a prisoner aboard a pirate air fortress. I was playing a Cambion GunMage who specialized in alchemy. They had taken my guns away and were taking me to some evil bastard who would pay them large sums of money. However, they were arrogant enough to let me have free roam of the ship. I joined the crew for dinner, a long, long table, from the captain in decending order to the lowliest shipman. I picked a spot about halfway up the table in power to me, picking a fight with a daggerspell mage elf.

"You're in my seat"

So we get into a fight. Now, a gunmage without guns is a little like a wizard without a spellbook or a duelist without a sword. And he had his daggers. We both buffed up on haste and the like, and threw our petty megic missiles at one another, till he cast improved invisibility and took silent, running slashes at me, kinda like Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York. So I held my ground and waited, listening with all my might, till I felt his knife start to cut my ear. I reached out and grappled him, then bit my tongue and spat a gob of blood in his eyes. At this level my blood did paralytic damage, and he took a penalty to resist since it was right into his eyes. Screaming and then shaking, he fell to the ground. I proceeded to kick him till he was unconscious, then watched as the crew exchanged money over bets on the fight. Taking my rightful place at the table, I pulled a fork, accepted an ale someone passed to me, and demanded someone pass me some #&@%ing 'slaw.

Now we're playing the sequel. Damn but he runs a good game, sometimes.

Fine. Over three levels this isn't going to do too much for an arcane character, which this seems to be aimed at, and it gives the feeling that with working with alchemy, he's toughened himself... it's nice.

Requirements
Feats: Brew Potion
Skills: Spellcraft 3 ranks, Concentration 3 ranks, Craft (Alchemy) 3 ranks
You can take brew potion as your third level character feat and get in at fourth level... this is a no-no... I suggest as others have. Raise one of the skill prerequisites to 8 to qualify at fifth level and a sixth level entry.

The only prc that I can think of that allows entry before this is master specialist from Complete Mage... and though I like it, unless you have more levels in the base class... you really aren't a member of the base class...

Skill points at each level 4+IntMost arcanists have only 2 + int for skills... why give this guy more since you already have a skill bonus to this guy's major skills based on prc level?

Brewer's Way (Ex): A brewmaster gains a bonus to Concentration, Spellcraft, Craft (Alchemy) equal to her class level. She is also able to automatically identify potions as a free action and at no cost. At 3rd level she may also reduce the final xp cost to any potion she makes by half.
Quicker Potions (Ex): At 1st level it now only takes half the time for a Brewmaster to make a potion. At 3rd level it only takes a fourth of the time.
Reducing the xp cost will automatically reduce gp amount and time to craft... since brewing a potion is based of this. You are eventually going to be making potions for nothing and in no time with this class... or am I misunderstanding when you are applying these bonuses?

Special Blend (Sp):At 2nd level the Brewmaster may add an additional spell with normal XP cost and normal spell level limits. At 3rd level the Brewmaster may add a third spell with the same restrictions.
So at second level you can add a second 3rd level spell and at third level you can add a third 3rd level spell... and this increases quickly if your DM allows access to the Master Alchemist prc from the Faerun books... three fourth level spells in a potion, three fifth level spells in a potion, three sixth level spells in a potion... or Alchemical Savant from Magic of Eberron which would allow an additional spell with the spellvial feature... so four spells... 3 in one and an additional one.

I don't really want to try to balance a class over a prc they may or may not have access to, but this Special Blend feature might need to be tuned down just a bit... or at least a stipulation that would disallow misusing this prc with others that do something similar...

Umm, that is the point. There are only three levels too this class so it would have just as many as level in the base class as this prestige class. This class is too weak to put it at such a level since all it can really do is make potion better, faster, and stronger.

Most arcanists have only 2 + int for skills... why give this guy more since you already have a skill bonus to this guy's major skills based on prc level?
It is not only for arcanists, it is for those that can create potions. The bonuses only equal that of skill focus with out wasting a feat on them.

Reducing the xp cost will automatically reduce gp amount and time to craft... since brewing a potion is based of this. You are eventually going to be making potions for nothing and in no time with this class... or am I misunderstanding when you are applying these bonuses?
Umm...Xp cost has nothing to do with the time it takes to create a potion. This class will only be able to make 4 potion a day. It will still cost gold and xp to make these potions. The amount of xp needed is derived from a base price formula.

You can create a potion of any 3rd-level or lower spell that you know and that targets one or more creatures. Brewing a potion takes one day. When you create a potion, you set the caster level, which must be sufficient to cast the spell in question and no higher than your own level. The base price of a potion is its spell level × its caster level × 50 gp. To brew a potion, you must spend 1/25 of this base price in XP and use up raw materials costing one half this base price.

So at second level you can add a second 3rd level spell and at third level you can add a third 3rd level spell... and this increases quickly if your DM allows access to the Master Alchemist prc from the Faerun books... three fourth level spells in a potion, three fifth level spells in a potion, three sixth level spells in a potion... or Alchemical Savant from Magic of Eberron which would allow an additional spell with the spell vial feature... so four spells... 3 in one and an additional one.

I don't really want to try to balance a class over a prc they may or may not have access to, but this Special Blend feature might need to be tuned down just a bit... or at least a stipulation that would disallow misusing this prc with others that do something similar...

Well that is why I balanced it to core, since I can assume nearly everyone uses that. If someone would want to take all those PRC just to make better potions then they should be able to since a lot of other things suffer in the process.

Thank you for the critique.

I apologize. I was thinking the other 'craft' feats when I made my comment. For example...
Craft Magic Arms And Armor [Item Creation]
. . .
Enhancing a weapon, suit of armor, or shield takes one day for each 1,000 gp in the price of its magical features. To enhance a weapon, suit of armor, or shield, you must spend 1/25 of its features’ total price in XP and use up raw materials costing one-half of this total price.
So if you reduced the cost in gold to craft, the time to make the item could be reduced and the amount of xp used is based off the cost as well... but again, I got my feat's mixed up.

Well that is why I balanced it to core, since I can assume nearly everyone uses that. If someone would want to take all those PRC just to make better potions then they should be able to since a lot of other things suffer in the process.
Well, although ranger and paladin eventually qualify for brew potion, I assume you mean full casters such as the wizard, sorcerer, cleric, and druid.

A wizard isn't going to lose much going into this prestige class at fourth level and continuing until level six, and a sorcerer loses less. A cleric and a druid, though, will lose a lot more... so, even though divine casters can take it, I'm having a hard time seeing how this is not an arcanist class.

A cleric would lose just as much as a wizard which isn't much, a druid would lose a lot. It is not an arcanist because it is based on brew potion which any casting class can get. It is about making potion better, faster, and stronger. Just because it is not optimal for some caster class doesn't mean that it is not for them.

Does potion focus apply to each spell instilled in a potion with special blend?

For example... A character makes a bull's strength potion and adds 2 to the enchancement bonus for a +6 to strength. He adds bear's endurance to the potion. Does it also get the +2 to the enchancement bonus? Or does potion focus only apply to the first spell? If you do add potion focus to each spell, could you use a different potion focus ability, such as the +2 to duration rather than a +2 to enchancement bonus for the second spell?

Good question, I just amended the class. You can only apply on enhancement to a potion, but it applies to all spell that are applicable.
