What would be considered the "best" PrC to take for a generalist wizard that would still maintain the feel of a generalist?

Its "signature" ability is casting from the spell-pool. Access to many, many spells is really what the generalist strives for.

Depends on what you want to do and what books you take - most PrCs offer some kind of a focus or at least underlying idea. MotAO is good, archmage is also solid, and despite its prerequisites, so is Loremaster (come on, don't tell me that the wizened sage isn't THE wizard archetype)

11-17-07, 12:03 PM Mage of the Arcane Order sounds right. The thing about spellcaster PrCs: they focus on a certain way to use magic, as a general rule.

11-19-07, 07:40 PM The Fatespinner is easy to pick up, has full caster progression, and has some neat abilities that are all around useful for non-specialists. IIRC, the Geometer's the same way... full CP and generalist abilities, except I believe it had a couple odd entry requirements. Specialist builds have so much more tools to offer, though, without any significant sacrifice in utility. Of course that's just my opinion.
