There are a few classes that specifically don't mention spells known (Arcane Trickster is another) but most do include it in the entry. On a related note, what about new wizard spells? The wizard entry and later in the magic section of the PHB it specifically says they gain new spells only when gaining Wizard levels, and as far as I can find there is never any mention of new wizard spells being added to your spellbook when gaining +1 to caster level for a PrC. My assumption would be that regardless of the wording a PrC progresses both spells to spellbook and spells known for whatever class you are adding that +1 caster level to unless the class (like Hierophant) specifically denies any benifit but caster level (no spells per day). While I appreciate interpretations, I'm really looking for some rule (in 3.5 only, no only 3.0 rules as they might have been changed), sage ruling, faq, etc... |

I believe that it also gives spells known or wizard spells, unless otherwise noted. I am not sure if that is official, but it seems quite legit. |
