PrC that grant death attack [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-08-07, 01:45 PM is there any other class or PrC that grant death attack beside assassin?
one of my PC wana play a good assassin (wich I got no problem with) for the death attack so I would like to orient him toward another class that as the same or similar ability (death attack)

- Imaskari Vengeance Taker (underdark): any lawful
- Dark Hunter (complete warrior): no alignment prereqs
- Shattered Peak Cultist (lost empires of Faerun): iirc no alignment prereqs
- Justice of Weald and Woe (champions of ruin): bow only, no listed prerequisites but non-good is implied
- Teflammar Shadowlord (unapproachable east): non-good only
- Monk of the Long Death (player's guide to faerun): non-good only
- Avenger (web article, I consider it to be an April fool joke but you never know) any lawful.

I'm sure I'm missing a few, though. I'm generally quite averse to good assassins, all in all, but it's your game. What setting are you playing?

12-10-07, 03:45 PM Slayer of Domiel from the Book of Exalted Deeds. Has a death attack that only works against evil creatures. Looking at at least a 5th level character before they enter the class as written. You will also need to allow for exalted feats if you use the class as written as they are required for entrance into the PrC. Vow of Poverty, good assassin, all the way. Woot! woot!

12-11-07, 11:34 AM No it doesn't, it has death touch. That's like the cleric domain ability, not the assassin one.

12-11-07, 02:08 PM The Shaman, is correct. It is like the cleric ability, but can still be fun to use, especially if you are unfortunate enough to be grappled.

It's the Assassin, slightly modified to not necessarily be Evil. You just have to not be Chaotic.

12-13-07, 01:50 AM There's also the Black Dog, from Dragonmarked. It gets death attack and specializes in ingested poisons.

12-13-07, 06:48 AM Check out this class I've just finished making, its called the bounty hunter (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?p=14572617#post14572617). I think it suits your needs. You can be a good aligned say if you're working for the government, killing wanted criminals etc. Check it out anyways.

12-15-07, 07:23 PM It has already been mentioned, but I have seen the Dark Hunter PrC played! It is pretty good. The PC was Rogue/Fighter then went Dark Hunter...Then went Street Fighter! The Dark Hunter aspect made her the most feared PC in the game with her spring attack and specialization/melee weapon mastery with her longsword! Even if her victim succeeded in the death attack's save, the damage(base + sneak attack) alone killed at least one mind flayer, that I know of. Good stuff all around! The only "problem" with Dark Hunter is that it's class skills do not include 'open lock', or 'search'. She uses these alot, so the lady has had to be careful in avoiding traps on doors, treasure chests and such like.
