| Kasbru107-05-07, 03:35 PM | Hello people! This is actually my first thread, so be gentle if i make any mistakes, may it be something i forgot, the wrong forum to post etc. :D My first character died in the campaign i am participating in, and i am not quite familiar with the other classes and the presticeclasses supporting them. Our campaign is centered on this group of followers of Asmodeus, i thought a cleric of Asmodeus would fit nice. But here is where my problem shows its nasty face. I can not find any prestige class fitting the alignment, and certainly not the deity. I know there are some in the Book of Vile Darkness, among them the Diciple of Asmodeus, but it seemed a bit underpowered with its loss of casterlevel. I thought of a one-level dip into it, but the requirements seemed a little too heavy, especially the leadership and the abilities granted does not quite seem worth the feats. There is already a Diciple of Asmodeus in our party, and we do not need another in it with followers. So that is my problem. Does there exist a prestigeclass or anything that will help my cleric with both flavor and mechanical advantages? I hope you can help me with my problem :) Thanks in advance. |
| General_Ridley07-05-07, 04:40 PM | You could always take a spin as an Ur-Priest, considering the following: 1) Asmodeus is not a true god 2) therefore stealing the power of the gods to glorify Asmodeus would be fitting Ur-Priests traditionally hate the gods or worship dead gods and wish to return them to life, restoring their powers. Perhaps you could go for Ur-Priest with the notion of elevating Asmodeus? Note: You will kill off your cleric casting and abilities to do this. I honestly don't see that many evil cleric PrCs out there that much, so I can't really help in that department. |
| Chaos9007-05-07, 04:51 PM | Looks like General Ridley beat me to my post:eek: Seriously though, the ur-priest is probably your best bet(at least without going into other campaign setings anyway). The lost of cleric casting is VERY quickly replaced by the ur-priest casting, and you get a couple of interesting abilities(the best of them is probably rebuke undead because of all the divine feats out there) Finally, like ridley already pointed out, I don't think there are any other evil cleric prc that would work for you besides the ones already mentioned. EDIT: Haha, sorry for getting your name wrong...ridley* |
| Kasbru107-05-07, 05:19 PM | Hmmm.. that actually sounds interresting. I have not looked at Ur-Priest that way before, but it could be quite cool to have a Ur-Priest who worship Asmodeus by stealing the good-aligned gods powers. But on the other hand, does that not seem like he thinks that he can only be of service to Asmodeus by stealing other deities powers, instead of using Asmodeus' own power? I do not want to provoke the wrath of Asmodeus :mymy: But yes, that was a very good solution to my problem. Thanks General_Ridley and Chaos90 :-) I will try asking my DM if this is a solution he likes. PS: while i am at it, does there exist a feat that lets you use charisma for your divine spellcasting instead of wisdom? I heard of such a feat somewhere, but i just can not remember where... |
| General_Ridley07-05-07, 09:21 PM | well, one would think Asmodeus would find the arrangement quite pleasing. He needs not utilize his own power to maintain your power, and you in the process weaken the power of his rivals. From his point of view, the only negative is that he is not in complete control of your power. as for charisma over wisdom for casting, I can't think of anything off the top of my head. You're more than likely better off simply using wisdom anyway, unless you have a higher charisma (probably don't, being a cleric). |
