Ok, so I have a Succubus out of Savage Species who is lvl 10 and getting close to being able to take a class. Does her spell-like abilities count as being able to cast arcane spells without preperation?

I was looking at going straight to Dragon Disciple and we were debating whether it met that requirement or not.

Just looking for any official places to look that would answer this. The specific definition of Spell-Like ability really leaves it open to interpretation.

I don't think that REALLY counts, as spells and spell-like abilities are two different ballparks (If not, why is there Maximize Spell-Like ability?).

That said, considering you're playing a character with LA, ask your DM. It shouldn't be too unbalanced to allow your character to take Dragon Disciple right out of the gates.

I don't think it qualifies, but I'd allow it for Dragon Disciple. They have a funky enough spellcasting progression (if you can call it a progression) to make SLAs work. So instead of a bonus spell, you'd be getting an extra use/day of a SLA.

I could believe it if the class required the casting of a particular spell or spell kind (i.e. a succubus mindbender). However, then you and the DM should get together and adapt it.

Technically, no, SLA's are not spells, and can not qualify you for a PrC requiring spells. But in this case I might allow it, talk to your DM about it.
