Question about Unseen Seer [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-10-07, 07:15 PM Does unseen seer prc from complete mage actually grant sneak attack/sudden strike/skirmish ability or does it only continue existing progression? The wording in the book is such that my english reading comprehension ability is inadequate to figure it out.

Thanks for anyone who can shed some light on this issue.

08-10-07, 07:17 PM I believe there is no distinction.

Since sneak attack from all sources stacks, any class that grants sneak attack damage is essentially "adding" d6s of SA. If you didn't have any before you took Unseen Seer, it would "add" to your sneak attack of 0d6.

Hmm, that makes sense and playing it that way means my ranger-based seer doesn't get shafted :)

So, if you dont have it already, you gain nothing. If you dont have anything to start with, what does it add the 1d6 to? Do you get Sneak Attack, Skirmish, or Sudden Strike? All three? :)

Not covered, so, none.

08-13-07, 11:40 AM It doesn't say "if you don't have this ability, it grants it to you". It adds to one of those three. If you have nothing to add it to, then it can't do anything for you.

It is like a PrC that adds "+1 to existing spellcasting class". It doesn't give you the ability to cast spells if you don't have anything to add it to. (that may have been a bad example, I don't think there are any "+1 to existing" PrC's out there that don't have spells as a prereq).

But, you get the point, you have to have something to add it to first.
