09-03-07, 11:35 PM I want to build a character that will work twords a prestige class but i want my prestige class to be sort of a battle mage dawning heavy armor and weapon but also casting destructive spells what would be a good prestige class for me and what should i start as my base class?

09-03-07, 11:41 PM Casting spells in heavy armor sounds like something a Spellsword (CWarrior) would do. A proper build all depends on what your definition of "destructive spells" entails.

I believe Race of Stone also has a prestige class that can cast in heavy armor.

09-04-07, 08:27 AM Depends. If you want to be a fighter that can cast a few spells, the Duskblade is what you want. If you want to be a blaster that can wear armor, then go Warmage.

The Duskblade (PHBII) sounds like it's just what you want. Their main role is up-front melee. They get a few spells known. Their spell list mostly consists of damage dealing, battlefield control, and self buffs. They start being able to cast spells in light armor and soon (level 4) can do it in medium armor. You can take the feat Battle Caster from Complete Arcane, which ups the category of armor (light, medium, heavy) that you can cast in.

You slowly get better at channeling spells through your attacks, so that you deal weapon damage and hit them with a spell at the same time.

They have full BAB, two good saves, d8 HD, but their skill list is as bad as the Fighter's.

This is a 20 level base class, not a PrC. Their crowning ability is at level 13, where they can channel a spell through a full attack. After that you can opt out into a PrC if you like.
