Radiant Servant Clarification [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-27-07, 12:34 PM For the PrC Radiant Servant of Pelor from Complete Divine, is the Empower healing class feature generally interpereted as only applying to spells cast out of your domain slots, or any spell which is in the domain? I as a GM am pretty sure I know the answer, but someone wanted me to ask ;)

... 'Casts a domain spell from the Healing domain'... is the portion in question.

04-27-07, 05:35 PM Casting a domain spell means using your domain slot. Otherwise, they could've simply said "casts a spell from the Healing domain."

Or can a cleric ordinarily prepare a metamagic altered domain spell in a higher level domain slot, in place of the usual domain spell at that level? An empowered CLW in the 3rd level slot, in place of the usual Cure Serious Wounds would probably not be a sensible decision, but I could see for example a cleric with the Strength domain wanting to prepare an extended Enlarge Person in his 2nd level slot, in place of Bull's Strength, on occasion.

Yes, he would be able to do that. He could also prepare an ordinary Enlarge Person in the 2nd level slot, if he would want.

As to the original post: The one time a Radiant Servant was featured in my campaign I allowed the Empower Healing ability and its siblings to be applied to all spells that are featured in the Healing Domain, even if they weren't prepared in the domain spell slot. It didn't seem unbalancing (healing is usually done outside of combat anyway).
