Hey guys, in the Rage Mage PrC under the Spell Rage ability it says:

A rage mage can cast spells while in a rage, as long as the spell's casting time is no more than one full round

it then goes on to say:

When she casts a spell of the abjuration, conjuration, evocation, necromancy, or transmutation school while in a rage, the rage mage uses her character level as her caster level. This ability only works when the rage mage is in a spell rage.

What I am wondering, is does the claus "This ability only works when the rage mage is in a spell rage." apply only to the second quote, or also to the first?

In other words, can a Rage Mage cast spells if it is in a normal rage or only if it is in a Spell Rage?

The test in the Complete Warrior not even says what you got from Spell Rage except the gruesome part of being Barbarian.

So... it must be that you have to declarate the rage you will use to be a Spell Rage and only then you can receive the bonuses from it (being able to cast while in Barbarian Rage). :D

All mentions of "in a rage", "raging", and others, in the entries for the PrC, refer to "spell rage", since it's specifically mentionned you don't actually cast spells while in a barbarian's rage, but rather while in a rage mage's spell rage.

Clearer?
