The damage was changed in 3.5, it now applies to foes immune to crits.:)

Is the answer in the FAQ? I have looked in the books, but I guess I have missed it. In the class ability description it does not state it is effective against creatures immune to crits. Can anybody tell me where it states it is effective?

Thanks for the answers. This makes a lot of difference.

It's addressed in the FAQ.
Ranger
Does a ranger still deal extra damage to a favored enemy
immune to critical hits (such as constructs or undead)?
Yes.

If the ranger uses the Manyshot feat against a favored
enemy, does the favored enemy damage bonus apply to all
arrows fired in the attack?
Yes.
