I was thinking about creating a loose organization that combines arcane and divine magic along with martial prowess to defend nature. I looked at arcane hierophant as a possible PrC for this organization, but I just didn't fit very well, the group was much more militant. Then it hit me a ranger/hexblade PrC is exactly what I need.

So here is what I have come up with, please if anyone has any critques or suggestions for arcane/nature abilities please let me know.

The name is kind of uninspiring.

I like the idea though, and it seems pretty balanced.

Some name suggestions:
Hex Warden
Nature's Avenger
Dark Ranger
Mystic Hunter

Agreed, very much so, up I was calling it Ranger/Hexblade PrC, while I was typing it up, then thought of the wilderness arcanist.

Hex Warden
Nature's Avenger
Dark Ranger
Mystic Hunter

Nice names.

Mystic Hunter and Nature's Avenger are my 2 favorites out of that list, Dark Ranger makes me think power rangers for some unknown reason, especially since my generation is much older.

How about Gray Stalker, or a variation on the above, Curse Warden.

Gray stalker is a nice name.

I must a say I am a bit surprised that no one has claimed that it is utterly broken, since it grants, Good BAB, all good saves, and 2 caster progressions, plus some other nice abilities

Actually, though it seems reasonable for a hexblade/ranger based on the nature of those classes, I think it might break pretty badly for, say, a druid/sorc. Maybe if you added favored enemy and hex ability prereqs?

I did not want to prohibit a druid/sorc from taking it, but I did want to make it difficult for one, how about upping the BAB req to +8 and adding Track as a Prereq. Since you basically need to be hexblade 4/Ranger 4 to meet the current prereqs, it wuldn't change anything for a hexblade/ranger, but make it much mroe difficult for a druid/sorc

Hm, even so, it would be pretty good for, say a druid 12/sorc 1. At the cost of 1 level of druid spells and his better wildshape, he would pick up 8 levels of sorc spells, better saves, and an extra three points of BAB. (I'm sure you could get your fourth attack with just a little work.)

But more, the flavor doesn't make sense. You get the hex and favored enemy progressions that wouldn't work, the full BAB and good saves don't make sense... you have a really nice ranger/hexblade combo, why try to shoehorn a druid/sorc into it? You could just make a more suitable casting PrC for that, I think there actually is one already in RotW maybe? (In addition to mystic theurge, of course.)

good points all around, and the druid/wiz PrC you are thinking of is Arcane Hierophant
