For example, if I want to go Dervish, and I have all the prereqs but Combat Expertise. At level 9 can I take combat expertise and become a dervish or do I need to wait until level 10? This is so darn embarrassing >.< |

| Mr_Teapot02-20-08, 06:26 PM | You need to meet all the requirements before you can take a PrC, and choosing the class is the first step of advancing in level: From the SRD entry on Prestige Class (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/prestigeClasses.htm): the first step of advancement is always choosing a class. If a character does not meet the Requirements for a prestige class before that first step, that character cannot take the first level of that prestige class. I'm pretty sure people ignore this rule or forget about it occasionally and let you pick feats before classes. But no way you could do the same with skills, because skills are determined by your class (non-class bonus feats are automatic regardless of class). |
