Create Spell Glyph
A spellglyph is a picture or sketch that substitues for the spell's somatic and material components. A Geometer can prepare any number of spellglyphs a day, but the total spell level must not be more that the character level of the Geometer. However like metamagic feats, the highest spell level possible through a spell glyph is a 9th level spell. Eg a 10th level character could prepare a 5th, 4th and 1st level spellglyph. Preparing a spellglyph takes 1 hour and cost 25gp/spell level. If the spell would require materials costing more than 1gp then exotic inks and parchment treatments must be bought of equal cost to the spell's materials. Once the day is up the character can prepare more. A spellglyph lasts forever until it is physically destroyed (they are written on parchment or similar substance) or cast from. Casting the spell from the spellglyph is a standard action and does not provoke attacks of opportunity and the spellglyph is used in the process. When it is cast, the silent metamagic feat is applied. If any other Metamagic feat would be applied, it must be included at the time of preparation. This will affect the spell level when making the glyph (a maximised Fireball would use up the only 6th level spell slot available). Spellglyphs are still subject to spell resistance and can be dispelled, but not countercast. Once a spell glyph has been made it does not use up a spell slot.

Glyph Learning
From level 3 onwards, a Geometer gains a +5 competence bonus to cast, dispel, spellcraft check, search for or sell (appraise) a spellglyph or glyph.

Powerful Glyph Making
From level 5 onwards, a Geometer treats his caster level as 1 higher when casting spellglyphs and deals an additional 1d6 damage with all degenerative or damage deling spells. These abilities stack.

Why did the original need to be revised? This one's less fun than the other one. It has less class features, loses a caster level and is slightly weaker.

And what happened to "Book of Geometry"?

I personally found the previous one weaker; all you get is two spells (glyphs) and a search check like an elf. i think my version leaves more options.

No... it doesn't. The original also gets:

Spellglyph
Book of Geometry: Spells written in your spellbook henceforth take up ONE PAGE.
FULL CASTING
Entry by 6th level, not 9th level.

The book of geometry is worth it for the PrC - it's a full casting PrC - it's going to get less powerful abilities. It's a pretty nice PrC on it's own - possibly as a lead in to other casting classes.

And Spellglyph is Silent Spell and Eschew Materials for a 1st-9th level spell. Yours is kinda broken, since it's a cheap scroll that can cast 10+ level spells. Yup, you read that right - it can be used to cast spells above what the Geometer can actually cast, and it gets ridiculous later on.

ok either tell me whats wrong with the geometer i have put so i can consider and implement or leave the topic for other people.

I hate the Geometer in the CA.

In my opinion this class, although 9th not 5th, is better.

Ill go read the Geometer again, but unless you are using house rules I dont see what can make the original powerful.

Well, I'd reckon it might be the full spellcasting progression, with helpful class benefits, over dead class levels as a Wizard.

It's not broken, so it doesn't need fixing.

The only problem I had with the Geometer is that the Book of Geometry isn't had until second level when really it should be first. I understand that the designers probably did that deliberately so every wizard in the world wouldn't have a level of Geometer though.

I just noticed what Khatoblepas noted in his post.

According to the way your class ability is written, the total spell level does not need to be lower than or equal to the highest spell level I can cast. So, my 20th level Geometer can prepare a Maximized, Quickened, Twined, Split Polar Ray using a Spellglyph.

sorry bit slow but i finally understand aswell

changed it to have a maximum spell level.

I hate the Geometer in the CA.

Might I ask why? I've always kinda liked the Geometer PrC as it is.

well kinda read above; also with house rules in place it is severly weakened. Im no wizard but there are no real spell page restrictions in our games.

Then this is probably why you don't see the Geometer's significance. RAW, spells can take up multiple pages of a spellbook and lugging around 3-4 spellbooks can get cumbersome and a liability, especially if you have a DM who likes to send rogues to play with the party. :weep:

That aside, though, your class also allows, by the way it is written, to create an army of undead (via animate dead, create undead, and create greater undead, among others) because you only ever have to pay 25gp/spell level ONCE, rather than 25gp/HD EVERY TIME you cast the spell. Same thing with other spells that have expensive material components. So, make sure that your ability is written like Eschew Materials. Otherwise, this PrC is crazy-broken.

Yes without my house rule i do see a small amount of significance.

I will check the Eschew Materials feat and add it to my descriptions
