Long story short,
Had an elf thief/fighter (yeah, I'm old school) take a level of DWSniper, then get statued... now, a long irl time later, friends un-statue her.

But my GM says DWSniper aint around anymore (not in his books at least).
Is it gone, or hiding in some 3.5 book elsewheres?

If it is gone, what is there to replace it?
I'm not just making up some build, I already played up 9 levels over a few decades, and going back to change skills or feats is something we are trying to avoid.

The class hasn't been redone/updated, don't think it will. Check in Complete Warrior and Complete Adventurer, great PrC's based on bows.

Aside from those books I can't really say. what's replaced Deepwoods Sniper, I liked that PrC myself.

Several people have been pretty much using it as is that I know of. Most 3.0 things can easily be fiddled with to work with 3.5 games

There's no need to update the Deepwood Sniper. I allow it in my games just the way it is (3.0).

I went to the bookstore, and got a quick look at Complete Adventurer / Warrior....

Seems the old DWSniper requirements were just plain thief stuff I was already taking, whereas the Order Of Bow wants that crossclass Knowlege Religion. I saw the Scout class, but then I'd take an XP hit for 4Thief/4Fighter/1DWSniper(PrC) + 1Scout till it gets up with the 4th level classes.

As for compatability
The DWSniper was really just making criticals more critical. I really didnt notice the Magic Weapon ability was so useless (unless your 7th+ level bow character for some reason didnt have even a +1 bow yet?) when I chose to get into DWS.

Order of Bow may be nice to add that d8 damage, but that is not for Full Attack right... so I'd be trading in 3 shots (2 iterative +rapid) for just 1 shot at +d8.... and fewer attack rolls means fewer chances for that critical DWSniper is waiting on. That, and as a thief I really make use of the Sneak dice on them 3 attacks, a standup fight with a bow is not her style. Somehow I just feel the Order of Bow in more a fighter/ranger thing than thief.

Scout Skirmish would be nice, but unless I'm building with a bunch of other stuff I'm back to 1 shot because of the move, see above regarding 1 shot.

I am actually looking at Arcane Archer and just never using any of the arcane part. One quick level of mage (no XP hit for elf) and then ride ArcaneArcher just for the arrow plusses

So, not so much in a build for me, but in general
How do Arcane Archer, DeepWood Sniper, Order of Bow, and Scout compare/contrast? (did I miss any)

I'd buy my GM a book if need be, but I cant accumulate a library just for this

I made an updated version that removes a lot of the crit bonuses, has some other abilities, and the same prereqs. The thread got pruned, but if you're interested in a copy, PM me with your email address, and I'll send you a copy as a Word Document.

I have a player in my game using the PrC now, and she loves it.
