03-18-08, 03:38 AM Umm.... does the ability sucking powers in the Illithid Savant PrC only work so that i can only suck that many total abilities and then no more or is it from one brain i can suck my choice of what i'm allowed to suck out but only one selection (skills, SQ, abilities...) per brain?

03-18-08, 04:10 AM From what I have read and understand the IllSav gets it per brain but is limited to a specific number of either abilities or brains, not sure which.

03-18-08, 10:24 AM It's that many abilities, no more. It can be from any brain you already ate, and must be chosen when you reach the appropriate level. It could all come from the same brain if you choose.

i see and understand that view, but is that your personal view (its the same as my DM.) can you see my view from reading it? where at 10th level illithid savant i can choose to drain skills, feats, SQ, SA or features, but only one of those choices, and upto the limit for that choice per brain.

But if it was that way, which would be significantly stronger than the view your DM and I are pressing, it would definetly be written as such (something along the lines of 'one skills for each brain you consume' or the like). Instead, it says that at a few level (2,4 6 and 8 for feat, 3 7 and 10 for class feature, etc.) you gain one (ability) from A brain.

So at 10th level you don't get your choice of a skill, feat, feature, SQ or SA, from every brain you consume, but you get 1 class feature from one consumed brain.

At 5th level, the illithid savant permanently gains one special attack
or special quality of a consumed brain’s owner. ...
At 9th level, the illithid savant can gain another special attack or special quality from a consumed brain.

Also, I suppose if it was one of the possibility (skill, feat, feature, SQ or SA) from every brain, it wouldn't be necessary to give a progression at certain level for each above possibility. Once you're able to take skills from a brain, you could do it for any brain, right? I think you have to twist what's written a bit to see it that way (not much, I see what you mean, just a little).
