Shadowcraft Mage...where is it and what is it? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-14-08, 02:58 PM I have heard from a few posters that Shadowcraft Mage is a really good prestige class for a certain base class (though I can't remember which. I think it had something to do with being a good illusionist) Anyway, where is this class located, and what does it get/do that makes it so good?

03-14-08, 04:17 PM It's in Races of Stone, and is only open to gnomes.

It makes for one hell of a nasty illusionist.

03-15-08, 07:28 PM I'm thinking of going with a whisper gnome level 1 beguiler/level 4 wizard illusionist/level 1 Ultimate Magus to start (we are all 6th level) Eventually I want to go Shadow Craft Mage. How many levels of Ultimate Magus would work best before moving to SCM?

I'd skip the Ultimate Magus and either go straight illusionist with the Focused Specialist variant or straight Beguiler into Shadowcraft Mage, personally. Either one of those options gets you some free metamagics and both will offer a lot of illusion castings per day.
