I created this PrC in order to improve the warlocks eldritch blast in a thematic way. While the PrC takes the angle from hell and devil worship, it could easily be adjusted for those interested in demons or fey. Enjoy and please critique!

(P.S. Yes I know about the Hellfire Warlock... I just don't care for it)

Shot From Hell

Warlocks are all to often misunderstood. While the origins of Eldritch power are usually derived from evil sources, a warlock does not necessarily have to use them to such ends. A Shot From Hell on the other hand would be joyous to do nothing else. Whether their worship is secret or unknown, the Eldritch energy they wield tells of there true nature, for as a Shot From Hell grows in power, so does their essence darken and become tainted with negative energy and the hellfire of which the idolize.

Requirements:
Alignment: Lawful or Neutral Evil.
Skills: Bluff 8 ranks.
Invocations: Ability to use lesser invocations.
Special: Eldritch blast +3d6, Must either worship an Archdevil or be in ones service.

Class Features:
Devil’s Shot (Sp): Your eldritch blast becomes tainted with infernal energies, causing it to deal 1 extra damage per die. For example, an Eldritch blast that normal deals 3d6 damage instead deals 3d6+3.
Damage Reduction (Su): Fortified by the supernatural power flowing through you veins, you become more resilient to physical attacks. You gain DR 1/Cold Iron at first level and this stacks with DR given from other sources.
This improves to DR 2/Cold Iron at 5th level and DR 3/Cold Iron at 10th.
Fiendish Resilience 1 (Su): You learn the trick of Fiendish Resilience. Once per day, as a free action you can enter an elevated state to gain fast healing 1 for 2 minutes.
At 7th level, this improves to fast healing 2. This ability stack with fiendish resilience given by other sources.
Energy Resistance 5 (Su): At 4th level a Shot from hell gains resistance 5 against fire and your choice of either cold, electricity, acid, or sonice energy.
Vile Shot (Sp): Your evil nature continues to taint your Eldritch Blast. At 5th level the additional damage granted by Devil’s shot is now considered vile damage. Vile damage can only be healed within an area blessed with a consecrate or hallow spell.
Hellfire Shot (Su): You powerful connection with hellish forces continues to unveil itself in you eldritch blast. At 9th level your eldritch blast deals an additional 1d6 point of hellfire damage on impact and forces the victim to make a reflex save (10 + Equivalent Spell Level+ Cha Mod)or be dealt 2d6 points of hellfire damage on the next round. Hellfire burns so hot that it deals non elemental damage, still harming those who would otherwise be immune or resistant to fire.
Shot of Damnation (Ex): Your devilish nature cannot go unnoticed when you use you eldritch blast. The tainted essence of you blast not only make it harder for your foes to resist your shots (giving you a +2 to overcome SR and increasing the save DC’s of abilities tied to or applied to you eldritch blast, stacking with spell penetration and spell focus related feats) but also defiles the victims souls as well. Those slain by your eldritch blast are eternally condemned to hell as if they where LE instead of what would be expected from their alignment or deity.

this looks ok.. definitely not overpowered.

i just dont know why i would take 10 levels of this class instead of taking 10 levels in straight warlock.

first of all you have a smaller hd, which is bad.

also you have the devil shot which doesnt really add much power above straight warlock...9 pts at the most.

vile shot is meh.. i mean who cares if 9 points can only be healed by consecrate or hallow..9 points isnt enough to make a big difference.

alll in all, i think its very well written, but not powerful enough to take the prc over HF warlock, or many other prc's.. or even straight warlock.

Well, while it does have some negatives over straight warlock, your eldritch blast is a lot more powerful.

A level 16 warlock has an eldritch blast that does 7d6, while a level 6 warlock/ 10 Shot from hell has an eldritch blast that does 8d6+8 vile+1d6 hellfire Ref save 18+ cha mod or take an additional 2d6 hellfire.

So an average 24.5 damage vrs an average 39.5 or 46.5 (failed reflex). So on a failed save it equivalent to 13d6, or the same amount if you had taken hellfire warlock.

Still, for a 10 level class it probally does need a little more... Ill come up with some possibilities...

Is that better? Worse? I think it might be overpowered now...

:allalone:

Please comment on the updated version. I really would like some counter points and/or second opinions for when I approach my DM with this.

Hey, I love it. Especially that Shot of Damnation. It's alright if I use this for a villain of mine, right, because I love it!

Only thing I'd say is bump that HD up to d6. You can afford that much.

Hey - I just read over your 1.2 page, and damn that is awesome!

I've never played a warlock myself, but I can see definite promise in this. I really love how you used the sacrificing stats from the BoVD (love that book). It makes a lot of sense, and really allows a person playing a Warlock to have a chance at being not only evil, but really damn SEXY and really damn evil. I mean, c'mon. Damnation? How hot is that.

I'm definitely keeping this in my records, for when a player is interested. You did a great job. I was going to ask about the whole eternal damnation thing, but I think that works really well (with the whole sacrifice thing).

Nice job.

/edit/
I also sort of agree with the bumping up the HD thing, because warlocks don't have much for them except those eldritch blasts - and even if the prestige class offers a lot more power, there's still a lot of creatures out there with CR higher. So bump it up to d6, and it'll be good. I don't think it overpowers it at all.

Hurray positive feedback! :dancin:

I'm glad you enjoy the class. Go ahead and use it (though its not like I could stop you anyway... lol).

I might up it to a D6, but I am really waiting on an opinion from my DM. I should get an answer tonight. In the meantime if you want to up it to a d6 for your own uses, again go right ahead.

And yes, damnation is fun. :evillaugh:
