Sidhe Noble (Prestige Class)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/40/Riders-sidhe-L.jpg

Sidhe Nobles make regular Fey look like simpletons.
It’s their job.
On the other hand, Sidhe Nobles make the Sidhe Lord of the Court they inhabit look like a demigod.
This too is their job.

These Fey are not rare among all Fey, but still distinguish themselves from most non-Nobles by their ability to ruin or make the reputation of lesser Fey.
They sometimes possess areas of land as their own within the influence their Sidhe Lord’s Court, but most spend time with other Nobles either visiting each other or within the presence of their Sidhe Lord.
These moments of communion are far from idyllic, since one slip of the tongue can be fatal... or worse.

Sidhe Nobles become members of the Sidhe Elf race upon acceptance to a specific court.
This transition brings them into a state of being closer to that of their ancestors, and in common with that of their Lords as well.

(Sidhe is pronounced shee Since these beings sometimes reside underground while inhabiting mortal worlds, and are either descendant of or followers of a certain goddess, other names or variations include Aes Sidhe “People of the Hill”, the Fair Folk, and Tuatha de Danaan/Danann or Doaine/Deena/Dana Sidhe “People of Danu/Diana/Lady of Peace”)

Becoming a Sidhe Noble

Aspiring Sidhe Nobles usually replace existing Sidhe Nobles within Fey Courts if deemed worthy and a position is left open, but some actively seek to remove a Noble through defamation or assassination and then proceed to take their place. Very rarely a Sidhe Lord will create new positions for Nobles and nullify the requirement of replacing another for that instance.

There is no time requirement for a Sidhe Lord to decide which Fey join their Court since the decision is made in an instant.
However, the time spent climbing social ladders can last centuries or even millenia.

A Noble to-be might be asked a few tasks, forced into demeaning journeys for mundane objectives, waste personal time, make the Sidhe Lord laugh, or even give up a prized personal possession. Such hazing is optional and completely to the whim of each individual Sidhe Lord.

Diplomacy checks to influence a Sidhe Lord to gain favor will never work; either a Sidhe Lord accepts the new Noble, or rejects them, and no one can change the Sidhe Lord’s mind on the matter but that Sidhe Lord’s own will.
Inducted Nobles will be expected to lie, banter, defend their Sidhe Lord and make them look good, and generally kiss some serious Fey tuckuss.

Potential Sidhe Nobles caught sweet talking more than one Sidhe Lord are usually dropped by all Sidhe Lords involved since any Sidhe Noble deemed “sloppy” is simply not usually worthy of Fey politics.
The most important criteria for Sidhe Nobles is to understand whatever their Sidhe Lord desires and fulfill them. This special requirement leads most prospective Sidhe Nobles to failure.

The average Sidhe Noble has 5 or more levels of Bard, Sorcerer, Wizard, Warlock, or Enigmist.
While limited spellcasting is provided once the Sidhe Noble becomes a member of the Sidhe Elf race, only full spellcasters whose every level is devoted to their magical ability can attain true power.
Other classes or Fey races that grant spellcaster levels are also easily possible; Fey Courts encourage variety for the ability to adapt to many situations.

Within each Court, members under a Sidhe Lord tend to struggle for dominance and pecking order. Gaining rank means doing less work, which means more free time to play, study mortals, or nap.
A Lesser Courtier is a Court member with less total levels than the character, or ranking within the Court (as determined by their Sidhe Lord).
Offensive, spying, or commanding abilities will always work on Lesser members but saves are still applicable, unless noted.
A Greater Courtier is a Court member with more total levels or ranking than the character.
Unless stated, abilities that affect other members of the Court will fail if attempted on a Greater member; the Greater is also alerted by the attempt.
Some members are of equal level; equals are affected normally by default as if each were Lower.
This arrangement is common but does not persist within all Courts, as some Courts are full of Sidhe Nobles declared rankless and equal by their Sidhe Lord.
Such rankless Courts are far from peaceful, though.

Entry Requirements

Type or Subtype: Fey
Skills: Bluff, Intimidate, or Diplomacy ranks 8+, ranks 5+ in one skill specific to a Court (if none, use Diplomacy for Seelie and Intimidate for Unseelie, and the 8-rank requirement must be of a different skill)
Base Will: 4+
Special: Must gain the favor of the Sidhe Lord of a Fey Court the character wishes to join. While courtless Sidhe Nobles may still gain levels and cast spells, supernatural and spell-like class abilities containing the word “Court” in the name are rendered unavailible until a new Court is joined.

Sidhe Noble Prestige Class

Hit Points: d6
Base Attack Bonus: Poor (1/2)
Good Saves: Reflex, Will
Skill Points: 6+INT
Spellcasting: all levels

Level – Class Ability

2 Oversee, +1 spellcasting level
3 Lesser Court Directive, +1 spellcasting level
4 Court Errand, +1 spellcasting level
5 Greater Court Directive, +1 spellcasting level
6 Court Debate, Fey Entourage, +1 spellcasting level
7 Master Court Directive, +1 spellcasting level
8 Greater Court Errand, Limited Wish 1/day, +1 spellcasting level
9 Limited Wish 2/day, +1 spellcasting level
10 Swift Court Errand, Limited Wish 3/day, +1 spellcasting level

Class Skills (6 + Int modifier per level): Appraise, Bluff, Concentration, Craft, Diplomacy, Disguise, Escape Artist, Forgery, Gather Information, Handle Animal, Heal, Hide, Intimidate, Knowledge (any), Listen, Move Silently, Perform, Ride, Search, Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, Spellcraft, Spot, Swim, Use Rope, Use Magic Device

Weapon and Armor Proficiency
No new proficiencies. Sidhe Nobles are far too buisy gaining respect and socially stabbing backs to bother with weapons. Besides, yo momma should have tought you in Sprite school that spells are better anyway.

Spellcasting
At each level of Sidhe Noble add to spells known and spells cast for one previously gained spellcasting class (or manifesting or invocation-using class) by one level each time this ability is gained.

Sidhe Noble Class Features
While seemingly defenseless, Sidhe Nobles are full of tricks.
Be it their spells, followers, or their own mouth, no Sidhe Noble is ever without the means to direct their will upon other beings.

Blessing of Sidhe Upon gaining this prestige class, the Fey’s default race becomes that of a Grey Elf (see MM1) with all racial abilities and traits with slight changes (see further). This new body is now the character’s ‘true form’, that of the Sidhe Elf subrace.
Sidhe Nobles do not breed true, but rather induct members from any other Fey races. There may be other variant Sidhe races in your setting; however, this type is specific to the Sidhe Noble class.
Sidhe Elf racial traits:

Type becomes “Fey (Sidhe, Elf, augmented Humanoid)”
Remove all previous racial ability score changes and adjust as follows: Strength –2, Dexterity +2, Constitution –2, and Intelligence +2.
Immunity to sleep spells and effects, and a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or effects.
+2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. An elf who merely passes within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if she were actively looking for it.
The character becomes immortal (does not age and can not die of old age, revert to Adult if any older), Damage Reduction (half of level) / Iron
Low-Light Vision
Cast spells as if they had levels in one spellcasting base class equal to 1/4th of their character level (no other abilities from that class are gained, only spellcasting)

The Fey also gains the ability Alternate Form (Su) with their other form being that of their original race (ability scores revert back to original adjustments, as described in the Alternate Form ability in the MM). Changing forms is a standard action and lasts as long as desired, but appearing in the presence of their Sidhe Lord and other superiors as anything other than Sidhe is sometimes considered in bad taste (varies by Court).

Court Solidarity (Su): A Sidhe Noble is treated as having both “Status” and “Locate Person” constant effects to detect all Lesser Courtiers and equals of their Court on the same plane. If a member is not on the same plane, this ability reveals which plane they are on.
Members on other planes or Greater Courtiers reveal their locations in a general sense, as in which plane they are on, but nothing more. When willing, Greater Courtiers may reveal their status as if an equal.
The Sidhe Noble may let any Court member know they wish to communicate as a non-action.

Confidant (Ex): The Sidhe Noble may designate any number of other Sidhe Nobles as Confidants but the status must be shared between individuals willingly. The Sidhe Noble may use a “Telepathic Bond” effect on their own Confidants at any time regardless of distance.
This is a Mind-Affecting, and Language-Dependant effect.

Oversee (Su): As a move action a Sidhe Noble may cast “Detect Scrying” on theirself, or “Scrying”, “Clairvoyance”, or “Hold Monster” upon Lesser Courtiers of their Court, and at any range and through planes upon any Fey subjected to their own or any Lesser Noble’s Court Directive.
The duration of such spell effects becomes ‘Concentration + 1 round’.

Court Directive, Lesser (Su): As a Free Action a Sidhe Noble may apply a “Lesser Geas” effect upon any Lesser Courtiers within the court without a saving throw, or upon any Fey as normal.
The duration is ‘Permanent (dispellable)’.
The effect can be removed as an Immediate Action by the Sidhe Noble or a Courtier with Greater Court Directive.
A Sidhe Noble may have as many Lesser Courtiers under Court Directive as their Sidhe Noble levels.
This is a Mind-Affecting, Language-Dependant, and Charm effect.

Court Directive, Greater (Su): As by Lesser Court Directive, but the spell effect is as “Geas”.
The effect can be removed as an Immediate Action by the Sidhe Noble or a Courtier with Master Court Directive.

Court Directive, Master (Su): As Greater Court Directive, but if the command is violated the commanded Fey is subjected to a Baleful Polymorph with duration permanent (D) without save, and summoned within reach of the commanding Sidhe Noble (if desired).

Court Errand (Su): As a standard action the Sidhe Noble may “Greater Teleport” as the spell. The Sidhe Noble must wait one hour after using this ability before they may use it again. If responding to a call to return to their Sidhe Lord or a higher ranking Sidhe Noble, the spell provides a “Plane Shift” as well.

Greater Court Errand (Su): As Errand but with cast as a move action, and a minute delay after using it.

Court Debate (Su): As a move action once each round the Sidhe Noble may create a “Zone of Silence”, “Dispel Magic”, “Shout” (nonlethal damage only), or “Message” effect within Long range. The duration for these effects becomes ‘Concentration +1 round’ if not instant.
Court Debate may also be activated through the Court Solidarity and Oversee abilities but only once every minute.

Courtly Entourage: The Sidhe Noble may have a number of NPC Fey under their influence as if the Sidhe Noble had the Leadership feat, but only concerning Fey followers; this Entourage is in addition to any followers gained by any other method. These Fey followers have Fey Hit Dice for all but one of their levels.
You do not gain a cohort with this ability.
Some specifics from the Leadership ability vary (if desired by campaign and GM choice):
When accompanied by at least 2 Fey followers, gain a +2 circumstance bonus to all social skill checks.
Members of a Fey entourage do not need to be Court members.
Follower Fey will remain in a safe area, or dispersed, until called upon for processions, travels, or social occasions. Individual Fey under Court Directive, however, are essential to the role of Sidhe Noble.

Playing a Sidhe Noble
The Sidhe Nobles are diverse yet perform the basic function of holding the concept of a Fey Court together. While the Sidhe Lords are the masterminds, Sidhe Nobles are the backbone and nerves.
Lesser Fey, usually of lower level but always non-Noble, don’t necessarily agree with Sidhe Noble decisions (whether they are passed down from their Sidhe Lord or not) but usually change their ways once ‘corrected’ by a Sidhe Noble.

Playing a Sidhe Lord
Anything the Sidhe Nobles can do the Sidhe Lords do better. Anything Sidhe Nobles are known for, the Sidhe Lords do ten times more intense.
They are demigods among Fey, and they know it.
So, act like it.

Sidhe Noble Lore
Characters can make Knowledge (Nature or Nobility) or bardic knowledge checks to research the
Sidhe Noble prestige class and learn more about them.
DC 15: Sidhe Nobles are masters over other Fey. They use their powers on influence to maintain and enhance their own positions.
DC 20: Each Fey Court is composed of Sidhe Nobles in addition to other classes. Most Court members serve the Nobles unquestioningly, but the Nobles also have the means to punish rebellion effectively.
DC 25: Sidhe Nobles are constantly scheming for pecking order with their Courts and certain immoral Nobles can be played against their own members. Within some Courts, social backstabbing is even encouraged to weed out the weak.
DC 30: Sidhe Nobles progress to Sidhe Lords, but such a position can be removed if the Court beneath a Sidhe Lord is eliminated.

Sidhe Lord (Prestige Class)

Becoming A Sidhe Lord
A Sidhe Lord is by default a Sidhe Noble that has endured and navigated the labyrinths of Fey politics. In doing so, they gathered enough supporters to form their own Fey Court.
A Sidhe Lord’s court must have at least 1 + Sidhe Lord level number of members to exist. Any less, and a the courtless Sidhe Lord loses all Sidhe Lord class abilities, but not spellcasting.
As long as the Sidhe Lord maintains their Court and has sufficient members, they gain a +5 Inherent bonus to all ability scores.

No matter what other class or racial levels a Sidhe Lord has, they must be at least character level 15 to enter this class.

While the title “Lord” has masculine connotations, when applied to female characters it can become “Sidhe Lady” or “Lady of the Sidhe”. Abilities otherwise do not change.
Note that some Fey change sex; title defaults to the gender-neutral Lord unless the Court is predominantly a matriarchy.

Inner Circle
The Sidhe Lord may have as many Fey equal to Sidhe Lord levels +1 designated as members of their Inner Circle. These members may be of any class, even other Sidhe Lords, but they do not hold as much influence.
Any Sidhe Lords under another Sidhe Lord do not gain benefit of their more powerful class abilities; count them as ‘courtless’ for this instance.
All Inner Circle members receive +2 Inherent bonus to all ability scores as long as they are within the same plane as the Sidhe Lord.

Entry Requirements

Type or Subtype: Fey (Sidhe, Elf)
Skills: Bluff, Sense Motive, and Diplomacy ranks 15+
Base Will: 7+
Spellcaster Level (or equivalent): 12+

Sidhe Lord Prestige Class Basics

Hit Points: d6
Base Attack Bonus: Poor (1/2)
Good Saves: Reflex, Will
Skill Points: 8+INT
Spellcasting: full

Level – Class Ability

1 Lordly Prestige, Whim, Unearthly Grace +1 spellcasting level
2 Courtly Procession, Wish 1/day, +1 spellcasting level
3 Punishing Glare, Wish 2/day, +1 spellcasting level
4 Summon Self, Wish 3/day, +1 spellcasting level
5 Commanding Voice, Gate 1/day, +1 spellcasting level

Class Skills (8 + Int modifier per level): As by Sidhe Noble.

Sidhe Lord Class Features

For all ability and function purposes a Sidhe Lord still counts as a Sidhe Noble except for the added reputation, powers, and position. A Sidhe Lord without a Court is treated as a Sidhe Noble and loses the usage of all Supernatural and Spell-like abilities of the Sidhe Lord class.

Lordly Prestige (Su): Add Sidhe Lord levels as a Circumstance bonus to skill checks, saves, and save DCs made to influence and resist influence from other Fey.

Whim (Sp): A Sidhe Lord’s every desire is made manifest. They may cast “Limited Wish” as a spell-like ability 7 times in a day but XP are still drained as if cast with spell slots.

Unearthly Grace: Add the Sidhe Lord’s Charisma modifier as a Luck bonus to all saves and as a Deflection bonus to AC.

Courtly Procession (Su): All Court members within 1 mile of the Sidhe Lord may be placed under the effect of a “Sanctuary” spell if willing. The effect remains as long as the members are within range and may be denied or dispelled in regard to any individuals as a Free Action.

Wish (Sp): When a Sidhe Lord uses their Wish ability, XP is lost as if they had cast it with a spell slot as a Wizard.
A Sidhe Lord’s Wish may not be used to directly harm other Fey, create something or bring about an event that would harm other Fey, or betray their own Court.
The Sidhe Lord gains a negative level when this ability is used that can not be removed until the Wish ability has refreshed.
Special: This ability is also used to transmute new Sidhe Nobles into the Sidhe Elf race.

Punishing Glare (Su): Cast “Baneful Polymorph” on any Fey with level up to that of 2 less than the caster as a Swift Action. This effect is by default “Permanent (D)” but automatically dispelled if the Sidhe Lord character loses their Court.
By expending one of the Sidhe Lord’s Wish uses for a day they may use Punishing Glare as an Immediate Action for one round.
By expending the Sidhe Lord’s Gate use for a day, for one round they may use Punishing Glare on non-Fey. Only one of these non-Fey victims may be kept in animal form at any one time.

Summon Self (Su): The Sidhe Lord may “Greater Teleport” either to a location within 100’ of any Fey within own Court or return to their original location as a Free Action once per round. At the Sidhe Lord’s option they may replace their position with that of any other single Fey within their own Court. Works between planes.
By expending one of the Sidhe Lord’s Wish uses for a day they may use Summon Self as an Immediate Action for one round.
By expending the Sidhe Lord’s Gate use for a day they may use Summon Self to replace their own body with up to their entire Fey Entourage. Characters that can’t fit within the same space spill outwards safely, but if there is not enough room either less members are summoned or the effect won’t work.

Commanding Voice (Su): Cast “Charm Monster” on other Fey spoken to at any range as a Free Action once per round as long as the target(s) can hear the Sidhe Lord’s voice. All Fey of lower level that can hear the Sidhe Lord are affected but specific Fey may be excluded .
This is a Mind-Affecting, Language-Dependant, and Charm effect.

Thanks, and that's the point... there's classes that do better for power but this is setting-specific.
You'll need Fey Court info as well, and that will arrive eventually as a product of the Feybook project (link in my sig)

I'm considering switching Sidhe Lord "Wish" for "Miracle"s, but the old tales tell of wishes... hm.

So, if I called it "Fey Warlock" only then would there be attention.
How disappointing.

[Talisman arrives with his smouldering torch.] "Is this the place that requested a flame?"

Sidhe Noble
I'd say this class suffers from a rather odd dichotomy. It's largely useless in an adventuring situation, since most of the class abilities are only useful on lesser nobles. On the other hand, a PC with this class will be a god at fey courtly intrigues.

There's also the interesting situation that a party of all sidhe nobles gains a startling level of synergestic power, especially if they're willing to designate someone as the leader. Court Solidarity, Confidant, Oversee...these all increase their use dramatically with more than one PC Sidhe Noble.

Court Errand, Greater Court Errand and Court Debate are the only class abilities with real utility in the adventuring world.

I also have issues with Cluster o' Fey (aka Courtly Entourage); namely, this line: "The followers will easily supply items weighing up to 5 pounds on demand, perform any skill check of up to rank 8 with no modifier, scout, cast any level 1 spell from any class with a duration no more than an hour, perform an “assist” action, and similar benign tasks. Other tasks may be performed as individuals, and may or may not be possible depending on the composition of an entourage." This is simultaeously ridiculous and useless and horribly broken. As written, there's no reason you can extort an endless supply of 10,000-gp diamonds out of your followers, have them Craft you all kinds of stuff (take 10 = check result 18), scout (clarification!!), cast >any< 1st-level spell on demand, etc.

I get what you were trying to do here, but Leadership alone (with its cluster of low-level followers) does what you want. Just note that they get Leadership as a bonus feat, but can only pick fey as cohorts/followers. BTW, does this ability include a cohort?

Sidhe Lord
I have much less of a problem with this PrC; I actually like it very much. Just two nit-picks...

Whim: Does this cost XP? I sure hope so. If not, it's hideously broken...the ability to cast limited wish at will is devestating. I'll start by wishing myself up a huge pile of gold...and if the GM gives me trouble, I'll do it 100 gp at a time. At one limited wish per round, in an hour I can wish 600 times, for a total of 60,000 gp.

Oh, and we don't need the healer any more...I'll just duplicate cure critical wounds an infinite number of times. If I'm feeling really cheesy, I'll duplicate heal instead...it's a 5th-level spell on the adept list. Heck, so's raise dead...and since I've just wished myself an infinite amount of diamonds, the cost is no issue.

I trust you see my point. ;) Limited wish has an XP cost for a reason. I'd also consider limiting it to 2/day per sidhe noble level. 10 limited wishes a day is still pretty good.

My other qualm regards Punishing Glare. Put a save on that puppy, please. No-save effects make me twitch. No-save effects that are effectively save-or-die make me tired and angry all at once. No one likes me when I'm tingry.

Points noted on XP limit for Limited Wish (and I might do another limitation, like once per hour or something) but ya know, emulating other lower level spells at-will really isn't that bad when you compare to Mystic Theurge and its suckitude. They sacrifice power for versatility and as a result always take it in the rear with a grimace every time they fight an encounter of their own level.
Maybe 7 Limited Wishes, since that's a good number. Nice and... lucky.
Notice that the Sidhe Lord Inner Circle is limited to 7 members at most; that as not an accident :D

And for Punishing Glare, I figured that by those levels it wouldn't matter, what with Forcecage and Fleshshiver, but if we went in reverse and nerfed those issues then yes... I made a blunder

Entourage will probably be replaced with a limited Leadership, yep. Just have to consider what wording to choose. It'll be much briefer, though.

But keep in mind that these classes are also full casters, which means that all these abilities are in addition to whatever level-appropriate abilities they might be gaining on the side!

OK, back to lunch, and the rest of Christmas >_<
Thanks, Talisman. I'll get a part of some spell list recommendations for Bright Blade to ya soon. *puts on to-do list*

So this immortality, the way it is written, it doesn't allow the beneficial stat adjustments from aging... not only that, but you'd lose them if you were old aged when you went into the PrC, thus reverting to an adult. Those adjustments are a positive for a spellcaster. Is this intentional?

Hm... there simply are no adjustments for aging once the character gains that trait.
Or at least that was my intent.
Fey, and this kind of Fey specifically, live long but aloof lives. Their memories would be vast and their personalities overbearing if they just learned from their mistakes and accepted the humility and responsibility of time.

Gaining this immortality has no aging penalties, no aging bonuses, and from then on they don't ever age again.
I'll reword that if it doesn't make sense as-is....
It's not every day that a being.. well... becomes immortal, and even then I have doubts that Sidhe should be, ya know?

Maybe I'll just state that, since the Noble becomes of the Elf subtype, they gain the Elf aging categories as well? If an 80 year old 'feyblooded' human gained this class, they would become whatever Elf age category being 80 years old would place them in, all aging bonuses and penalties removed.

And yes it is an NPC class, but also for PCs. It won't work as well without other Fey, but that's the idea; interconnectivity.
The part I haven't mentioned enough in detail here is that playing this class would also require some degree of politicking, meaning that if you don't search out lesser Fey or other members of your Court (which we're fleshing out on the Feybook right now) then the class will be weaker as a result.

So, yeah, ideally NPC, but then again... most gamers won't want an RP-and-politics-intensive class anyway.
It's there to support a Fey setting, mostly.
There are other more combat-driven classes on Feybook.... my stalking scything Redcap role for any Fey, for instance.

I understand how it works for you prc. It's just that you are missing out on three untyped increases to your mental stats, and characters that live a long time are bound to learn something from all that time...
Race Middle Age Old Age Venerable Maximum Age
. . .
Elf 175 years 263 years 350 years +4d% years
. . .
Middle age, -1 to Str, Dex, and Con; +1 to Int, Wis, and Cha.
Old age, -2 to Str, Dex, and Con; +1 to Int, Wis, and Cha.
Venerable age, -3 to Str, Dex, and Con; +1 to Int, Wis, and Cha.
So if you had a human sorcerer that had some feat or template that made him fey, and he had a few years on him, he'd lose those bonuses he had to his casting stats... I'm not sure if I like this. It's fair enough, but consider a change.

Modify Timeless body a bit...
Timeless Body (Ex)
After attaining 15th level, a druid no longer takes ability score penalties for aging and cannot be magically aged. Any penalties she may have already incurred, however, remain in place.

Bonuses still accrue, and the druid still dies of old age when her time is up.

Possibly just calling it ageless and removing the maximum age/death cap.
sigma999

01-26-08, 05:12 PM
I considered that, just having a capless maximum age, but the penalties would stick with the Fey character.
The thematic (and mythological) standard is that, like Outsiders, Fey don't age both physically and mentally. A Noble or Lord 10,000 years in the past will be, maturity-wise, not much different than in the present, much like Peter Pan on a species-wide scale.
Their life experiences may have changed them for better or worse, but down to the core they still make the same mistakes and have the same desires. For a human to live like that somewhat robs the person of their 'humanity', a state of being very transient and difficult to determine; mortals are not eternal, were never meant to be.

There's a story somewhere about a hero speaking with a Milesian (ancient human) and a Tuatha (supposedly Fey) coming out of a cave. The Son of Mil is very old and worn, while the Tuatha is young and full of vitality, yet both are immortal. They came from another world. The Milesian explains that this is because the Tuatha is eternal, or something like that... I can't find the story again but if I ever do, this time I'm saving it
