Deacon Liadon 04-22-07, 09:03 PM	One of the players in my Planescape campaign wishes to become a member of the Sons of Mercy, a group who maintain Justice and Order (Think planar policemen) and believe that inside every person, no matter how evil, there lies a spark of good. Since being a member of this group doesn't in itself have any benifits (other than the feats over on Planewalker.com) I thought I'd try making a 5-level prestige class for him to use and I was wondering if you might be able to help me with checking it over. I want to make it geared to as many of the base classes as possible without being overpowered. Son of Mercy Prerequsites: Alignment: Any non-evil Base Attack Bonus: +5 Skills: Knowledge (Local) 4 ranks, Sense Motive 4 ranks Special: Must be a member of the Sons of Mercy 1st +1 +2 +0 +2 Track, Merciful Strike +1d6 2nd +2 +3 +0 +3 Weapon Focus +1 Level of Spellcaster 3rd +3 +3 +1 +3 Merciful Strike +2d6 4th +4 +4 +1 +4 Dogged Persual +1 Level of Spellcaster 5th +5 +4 +1 +4 Merciful Strike +3d6 Track: At Firest level, a Son of Mercy gains the ability to track a suspect as the feat. Merciful Strike: From 1st level, when making an attack that deals non-lethal damage, you gain +1d6 on the damage dealt. The amount of extra damage dealt increases at third level, and again at fifth level. Weapon Focus: At 2nd level, a Son of Mercy may gain the Weapon Focus feat in any weapon they are already proficient with. Dogged Persual: At fourth level, a Son of Mercy gains the ability to cast locate creature as the spell once per week as an 8th level caster Ex-Sons of Mery: A Son of Mercy who becomes evil, or grossly violates the sanctity of the law loses all Son of Mercy abilities and cannot proceed any further in the class. This can only be rectified by appropriate anotement (see the spell).
CantripN 04-23-07, 09:59 AM	Looks a bit powerful. Full BAB, 3d6 "Merciful Strike", 2 Spellcaster Levels. Check out the Justiciar from Complete Warrior. Really similiar, but more balanced (in my opinion). Though the Justiciar could use a boost in power... Spellcasting is a bit much, but maybe some SLAs... Scrying, Circle Dance and Tongues 1/day each spread out seems okay...
