| Exileman09-25-07, 02:23 PM | Now, I'm currently working on a campaign setting thats really low magic. I still wanted it to exist in the world, but in hushed whispers and the like. So, I had to redesign the main spellcasting classes as "Advanced Classes". Able to enter them around level 4. So, if you guys could tell me how it feels to you, that'd would be WONDERFUL! Prerequisites: +4 Base Will Save, 6 Ranks Perform (Any), 3 Ranks Gather Info. Feats: Magical Potential (Basically a requirement for this and Wizard, gives access to a cantrip once per day, Prereqs of Cha 13 or Int 13) Special: Awakening the Blood Ceremony. You have to find another sorcerer of at least 5th class level. They Awaken your magical potential, at which point you can take levels in the class. Costs 250 gp in incense and materials. The Specifics: Pretty much everything bab and spell wise is the same for lvls 1-10 of the sorc in PHB. ((the class only goes to ten)) However, there is some differences. I actually gave them some class features. Under spells per day: A sorcerer has no need for material components for spells. If a spell has a costly material component, for each 5gp the component is worth, the sorcerer pays 1xp per casting of the spell. Arcane foci are still required, and as soon as the sorcerer learns a spell, he is intimately aware what is required. Spell Thematics: Sorcerers, do to their intimacy with their spells, gain Spell Thematics, as per the feat, at 1st level. Spell Secret: At 3rd,6th, and 9th level, a sorcerer becomes more intune with a certain spell. This functions exactly as the Wu Jen Class feature of the same name. The spells selected need not be the same at each level, but each must be one of the spells selected through spell thematics. Arcane Thesis: At 10th level, a sorcerer reaches an epiphany for a single spell. He gains Arcane Thesis, as per the feat. The spell selected must be one chosen one of his Spell secrets and Spell Thematics. So, thats it. Please tell me what you think and give some feedback. Thanks. |

Learning magic from a mentor is a dangerous task and you risk taking the death sentence. Take old Salem for an example. It's not harder to become a mage, just there are consequences at low levels. |
