grudges 11-12-07, 04:35 PM	My friend and I were arguying last week about what happens to spellcasting levels if you go into a prestige classe and then come back to your base class. To make it more clear, let's say a lvl 5 wizard decided to take a prestige class that has a "+1 to existing arcane spellcasting class" class feature at each level. If he takes 10 levels of that prestige class, he will be an arcane caster lvl 15 (wizard) that will be able to do lvl 8 spells. Where my friend and I argued was if he then takes another lvl of wizard, what happen to his spells? To me, he still increases his arcane spellcasting, becoming a caster lvl 16 with the appropriate spells for that lvl, at the same time while adding the BAB and saves for leveling as a lvl 6 wizard... aka the wizard BAB/saves table is separated from the wizard spell table. To him, before he could actually become a lvl 16 caster, he would have to take another 10 levels of wizard since he had already gained the spells for those levels in his prestige class... I'm 99.9% sure I am right, but I still thought I'd run it by you guys to verify. Thanks.
andinel 11-12-07, 04:53 PM	Your effective wizard level increases. The PrC gives you +10 CL and spellcasting level over 10 levels, which stack with whatever class you chose. You are right.
