Spells per Day/Spells Known [Archive] - Wizards Community

I notice that some prestige classes like the Archmage and the Loremaster explicitly state that you get new spells known every level, while other classes such as the mystic theurge, arcane trickster and eldritch knight only say they get new spells per day and leave out the 'spells known' bit. Is this an oversight? or do the latter classes really not get new spells known per level (thus making it unlikely that a sorcerer would take these PrCs?)

I'm sure this question must have been asked before but I couldn't find it on a google search. The FAQ seems to indicate that an increase in spells per day automatically also means an increase in spells known, although it uses the loremaster as the example, which wasn't really in question since it explicitly states that it does get new spells known.

They do, if applicable. Spells known is part of the spellcasting ability and thus is enhanced with all other aspects of spellcasting.

If a class increases the spellcasting ability of another class you also gain the spells that come with that class. That is advancing a Sorcerer's casting also advances a character up the Spells Known chart and advancing as a Wizard continues to give you two free spell each time.
