is it possible to take as mount a sea drake (Fiend Folio) for the waverider PrC from Savage Species ?

Or the character must take other feat to obtain this mount or an other class ?

09-15-07, 03:56 PM That prestige class is very specific on what animals you can call to be your mount. It says... "A waverider can call a special aquatic mount to serve her. This may be a hippocampus (see sidebar), sea lion, shark, porpoise, Elasmosaurus, or whale."

Your DM could allow a sea drake but the balancing would be up to him. If the sea drake counts as a dragon, you may be able to take the dragon cohort feat from Draconomicon and use it to gain a sea drake mount, providing his HD fit your level.

Okay, the dragon cohort feat says you treat the dragon's ECL as 3 less and attract them as if you had leadership. You would need to figure out at what point you could attract an ECL 12 dragon, you'd also need a leadership score high enough to do so.

In essence, you aren't going to get a 15 hitdice gargantuan mount from a class ability intended for something much smaller.

You MAY be able to work with your DM to make a younger version of the sea drake which grows up as you level.

Is it correct ? What are the HD and CR following the category size ?

Feats :
3 HD : Improved Initiative, Alertness
6 HD : Great Fortitude
9 HD : Iron Will
12 HD : Ligthning Reflexes

In DMG, the CR for the mount with the leadership is ECL - 3 for the character.

ECL for the mount is CR + 3.

But for the mount for a paladin is + 2 to Leadership score for the ECL. Are there also + 2 for a waverider ?
