| Talisman02-05-08, 11:23 PM | Another one for Project Feybook (we're cool; check us out). I know it's fairly powerful, but it's supposed to be...it's a 12-level PrC, after all. Also, please don't look at the weapon-enhancers and say "OMG it's broken because it gets 18K of weapon enhancements free!" They're class abilities, no different from a rogue's sneak attack. The Stormblade "My blade is the lightning and the stormwinds. Face me, and you face the raw power of the angry skies." --Jaeron Kelldar, feyblooded human stormblade Stormblades are warriors who seek to emulate and embody the raw power and undeniable majesty of the thunderstorms, the shattering lightning bolts, and the raging stormwinds. A stormblade patterns his weaponblows after the strokes of lightning; his footwork after the swift and bewildering play of the stormwinds; and his battle-cries after the crash and rumble of thunderclaps. Through ceaseless training and innate ability, a stormblade soon learns to channel the lightning to smite his foes, and to dance across thin air as lightly as a stormwind. Abilities: As a melee warrior, Strength and Constitution are important to the stormblade. Dexterity is also useful, especially when powering the stormblade's reaving cyclone strike attack. Charisma powers some of the stormblade's supernatural powers. Balance: 4 ranks Jump: 8 ranks Feats: Combat Reflexes, Mobility, Weapon Focus (any slashing or piercing melee weapon) Feat: Improved Initiative OR Spirit of the Storm (http://z11.invisionfree.com/Feybook/index.php?showtopic=135) Class Features Weapon and Armor Proficiencies: The stormblade gains no new weapon or armor proficiencies. Stormborn (Ex): At 1st level a stormblade gains a +1 competence bonus on initiative checks, as well as Balance, Jump and Perform (dance) checks. He also gains electricity resistance 5. The bonus increases by +1, and the electricity resistance increases by 5, at 4th, 7th, 10th and 12th levels, to a maximum of +5 and 25 at 12th level. Lightning Charge (Su): Whenever a 2nd-level stormblade charges, he deals +2d6 electricity damage if he hits with the charge attack. If the stormblade somehow gains the ability to make multiple attacks at the end of a charge, the bonus damage applies only to the first. Shock Blade (Su): When a 2nd-level stormblade holds a slashing or piercing melee weapon with which he has Weapon Focus, that weapon gains the shock special ability. This does not stack with an actual shock weapon, nor with a bright blade's wildfire ability. If the stormblade is disarmed, drops, or otherwise releases his weapon it loses this ability immediately, but the stormblade can activate it again as soon as he holds the weapon; doing so is not an action. If the stormblade wields two weapons or a double weapon, only one (or one end), of the stormblade's choice, gains this enhancement. Whirlwind Attack (Ex): At 3rd level the stormblade gains Whirlwind Attack as a bonus feat, even if he does not meet the prerequisites. However, this ability can only be used in conjunction with a piercing or slashing melee weapon with which the stormblade has Weapon Focus. Stormwind Charge (Su): At 4th level the stormblade's lightning charge ability improves. When charging, the stormblade's speed increases by +10'. In addition, the stormblade may charge across unstable surfaces, liquids, or even open space, but he must begin and end his charge on solid ground. This does not allow the stormblade to change altitude, only to bypass certain terrain features. The stormblade suffers the usual effects of difficult terrain and other effects (such as fire damage from charging across lava) as appropriate. Shocking Burst Blade (Ex): At 5th level the stormblade's shock weapon ability improves; the weapon held gains the shocking burst special ability. This replaces the benefits of shock weapon, but otherwise functions identically. Storm's Fury (Su): At 6th level the stormblade begins to truly embody the fury of the storm. He may choose to emanate an aura of crackling electricity that deals 2d6 electricity damage to all within 10' (Reflex save negates; DC 10 + stormblade's level + stormblade's Charisma modifier). Activating this ability is a swift action, and it remains active until the stormblade is rendered unconscious or killed, or dismisses it (another swift action), or 10 minutes pass. Once de-activated, the stormblade cannot use storm's fury again for one hour. Lighting Strike (Su): At 7th level the stormblade gains the ability, when storm's fury is active, to fire blasts of lighting from his weapon. This affects one target within 60' and deals 1d6 points of electricity damage per stormblade level, with a Reflex save (DC 10 + stormblade level + Charisma modifier) for half damage. Using lightning strike is a standard action, and the stormblade must have line of effect. A stormblade may use this ability a number of times per day equal to his stormblade level. Tornado Assault (Ex): At 8th level the stormblade's Whirlwind Attack ability improves. The stormblade may now make a Whirlwind Attack as a standard action, allowing him to move either before or after attacking. He may not make a Whirlwind Attack in conjunction with a charge. Once a stormblade has used torndao assault, he may not use this ability again for three rounds. he may still make normal Whirlwind Attacks if he so desires. Skyfire Charge (Su): At 9th level the stormblade doubles his AC bonus from the Mobility feat when he is charging. In addition, he gains the ability to charge on thin air as if under the effects of an air walk spell. Once activated, this ability remains active for as long as the stormblade takes a move action to travel at least 30' on his turn, up to a maximum number of rounds equal to 10 + the stormblade's Charisma modifier. Once the effect ends, the stormblade cannot use skyfire charge again for one hour. Greater Storm's Fury (Su): At 10th level the stormblade's storm's fury ability improves. It now deals 4d6 damage per round. Thundering Blade (Ex): Also at 10th level, a weapon held by the stormblade gains the thundering enhancement in addition to shocking burst. This ability otherwise functions as shock blade. Reaving Cyclone Strike (Ex): At 11th level the stormblade's tornado assault ability improves. When the stormblade uses tornado assault, he may make one attack at his full attack bonus against every foe he threatens as he moves, up to a maximum equal to his available attacks of opportunity. The stormblade may attack each enemy only once, and need not attack creatures if he chooses not to. Each attack, successful or not, counts as one of the stormblade's attacks of opportunity for the round. Once a stormblade has used reaving cyclone strike, he may not use this ability or tornado assault again for 5 rounds. He may still make normal Whirlwind Attacks if he so desires. Eye of the Storm (Su): At 12th level the stormblade reaches the pinnacle of his craft, becoming an embodiment of the thunder, the lightning, and the stormwinds. He gains a number of abilities. First, whenever he has storm's fury active, the stormblade is surrounded by a wind wall effect with a 10' radius, which is centered on and moves with the stormblade. Second, the stormblade becomes immune to the effects of strong winds and can see clearly in the worst storm; all weather-based penalties to Spot checks vanish. This is a continuous effect. Finally, any creature striking the stormblade with a non-reach melee weapon takes 2d6 points of electricity damage as lightning arcs and crackles about the stormblade's body (no save). The stormblade can suppress this ability as he desires; doing so is not an action. This ability no longer functions if the stormblade is unconscious or dead. |

| sigma99902-11-08, 01:02 AM | I really like this.. it's easily 10x better than the Complete Warrior class that gives some shocking weapon enhancement x/day for short rounds in exchange for no bonus feats (yeah. really.), or the Stormlord PrC that just abuses special abilities on top of full casting (as well as being arbitrarily Talos-specific!) |
