Im making a new PrC just for the pure fun of it and I chose to make a AVATAR PrC. If any of you ever seen ((Avatar: The last airbender)) you would know what I mean.

A new Variant for monk will be made but lets take a look at what he can do.

Air, Water, Earth, Fire Bending. Hes a monk for he was fighting unarmed and rarely did he have any armor or the like on, all he used was a stick.

First he came in knowing Air bending (Air bender Variant), As we all know Air is defensive, running around the battle field to get into a better position to air bend. On numerous shows he used the spell GUST OF WIND, he also several times bended the air to make an airball to ride on.

Later he was able to water bend, he made tidal waves and also learned how to bend the water to suit his purposes. From the show I couldnt see him do alot of water bending.

After learning water bending he learned how to do Earth, his power as a bender increased further, he was able to do an Avalanche of rock and soil, moved it, bended it, twisted it to be used in combat. Much like Air and Water that he controlled.

I dont know what he did as a fire bender except hurt his girlfriend by accident when he tried to bend fire and we all know how fire can get away from us and one spark will cause such devestation much like a wildfire in our day and age.

He also took on an avatar form, only one I seen was his water elemental form he used during the seige of the north water tribe at the north pole.

He was also able to contact the spirit world several times.

We also know that the Avatar form was also a defensive ability like it was explained in the show.

What I got so far is:

Air, water, earth, fire mastery.
Avatar form (Change into the 4 elementals all the way up to huge)
Elementalist Bender (As the PrC's name instead of AIR BENDER)

Its been voiced by several people I talk too on the net that play DND that this would be an Awesome PrC to play with and I decided after much thinking to make the PrC. My problem is the balance of the PrC.

Having all 4 elemental forms ((HUGE!!! Air, water, earth, fire)) forms is over kill. So sense there was only the AIR and WATER Avatar forms shown on the show, I think ill keep with those 2 forms. But what do you all think?

Also from complete champion, the Air, Earth, fire, water, devotions would make for excellent bonus feats for this 10 lvl PrC, it would make it more bendish.

To be honest, I just think he was a Swordsage with a variant on Desert Wind (possibly just focuing on bludgeoning/electricity damage, movement and ranged bullrushing/tripping). The Avatar PrC would expand on this, giving him access to other elemental manuevers and his avatar form would be akin to a frenzy, usable 1/week or something.

I'm guessing he was a Monk 2/Swordsage X/Avatar X

Really, I'd give them all four elements, as it's no more overpowered than a Druid's Wildshape, and he doesn't even have spellcasting. Though, whilst in an elemental form he should only be able to use attacks of one element.

Good idea. Keep them coming.

Though Desert wind? how do you explain his Water bending?, Fire bending?, earth bending?. Desert wind doesnt cover those.

that kid's a class of his own.

i think Avatar deserves a Base class of his own:D

here's my idea:

give him a monks Saves, BaB, AC and speed bonuses

lose the bonus feats
at levels 2,4,6 and 8 give him an Element based attack (SLA) similar to his powers in the show, Save DC (if any calculated like Stunning fist).

Lose Ki Strike and replace with advanced element Attacks. Something with options like tactical feats have.

lose Quivering palm for the Elemental Forms

insetad of unarmed damage auto-scale the effectivness of the elemental attacks (save dc, damage, size for the bull rush etc.)

and i think drop Flurry of blows and make the Elemental attacks useable as normal (iterative) attacks

food for thought:cookie:

sadly, i haven't seen enough of the show to realy grasp the full extent of his powers but i hope you enjoy and build apon these ideas.

I said a variant. You'll notice I was talking about what kind of abilities Air bending would have in brackets.

In Avatar, instead of ordinary disciplines, you'd have four disciplines, each a different element. Progress like a Swordsage (if he uses one different attack/encounter) or Warblade (if he spams the same attack intermittently). Avatar itself would incorporate being able to do all of these four disciplines and a frenzy like ability which refreshes his moves each round, but.. some kind of mitigation from the show. From what I've seen, Avatar form is dangerous.

Believe it or not, Desert Wind boasts mainly fire-oriented maneuvers.

Having bending based on the ToB is a good idea, but this requires extensive work in designing new maneuvers and stances to emulate the bending seen on Avatar.

There have been lots of builds on the boards... but I've lost where my favorite one got to... try a google search with site:http://boards1.wizards.com airbender

I'd find some links for you myself... only I don't have time at the moment.

I think the best thing to emulate benders would be something in the neighborhood of a monk/warlock fusion... some abilities useable all the time like the invocations and each path preclude the other three. Every style was based off a martial art... so give some of the monk abilities. Eldritch blast becomes some sort of elemental attack useable at will in the presence of said element... with fire being the exception.

Edit: I'm not sure how to not get it to link the boards... which is not what I wanted. But I did find one of the links (http://www.freewebs.com/zerian-the-keeper/Avatar%20The%20Last%20AirBender%20d20%20 v2.03.pdf).
