Suiken Master
The art of Suiken, better known as the drunken fist or drunken boxing, has long been mocked as “just for show” or “not for serious fighters”. However this is not the case, as unorthodox as bobbing and staggering around fighting like a drunk may seem, suiken masters can be truly frightening opponents, whipping out and uncorking wine bottles with frightening speed, and consuming them nearly as fast, only to lay waste to hordes of orcs, ogres, or unruly barflies.

Requirements
Skills: Tumble 9 ranks, Balance 9 ranks, Bluff 6 ranks
Feats: Improved Unarmed Strike (or a monk’s Unarmed Strike), Combat Expertise, Improved Feint, Combat Reflexes, and any one of the following: Dodge, Defensive Throw, Karmic Strike, Improved Trip, Unbalancing Strike

Drunkard’s Stance (Ex): When a Suiken Master fights defensively; he weaves, bobs, falters, waddles, and sways like a drunk as part of his fighting form. From now on, when fighting defensively a suiken master does not take the standard –4 penalty to attack rolls for fighting defensively and he gains an additional +1 dodge bonus to AC when fighting defensively. In addition, while the suiken master is intoxicated this bonus improves to +2.

Monk Abilities (Ex): a suiken master’s class levels stack with his monk levels for determining his unarmed damage, AC bonus, and unarmored speed bonus. While intoxicated the suiken master can ignore a modicum of pain, so instead of adding his wisdom bonus to his AC as a normal monk, he gains DR/- equal to 1/2 his constitution bonus rounded down

Stagger (Ex): This ability works as described on page 28 of the Complete Warrior.

Advantageous Intoxication (Ex): At 2nd level a suiken master’s body begins to react differently to the affects of alcohol. While intoxicated, a suiken master receives a +2 bonus to his strength, dexterity and constitution scores, but takes a –2 penalty to his intelligence and wisdom scores. These bonuses and penalties increase by one for each additional drink beyond the first, but his intelligence and wisdom cannot drop below one (meaning that once one of these scores reaches one, he no longer benefits from additional drinks). In addition, while intoxicated the suiken master can avoid any and all attacks of opportunity made against him, provided that when the attack is made, he can make a successful tumble check, with a DC equal to the attacker’s attack bonus. Intoxication and it’s benefits last 1 minute per class level.

Improvised Weapon Proficiency (Ex): At 3rd level, a suiken master’s odd style expands to modify the weapons he uses. He no longer suffers penalties for wielding improvised weapons and is considered proficient with them for all intensive purposes.

Lunging Strike (Ex): At 4th level, When fighting defensively, a suiken master gains a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls when making an attack of opportunity

Quick Draw (Ex): Reliant as he is on alcohol, a suiken master must always be ready, and as such he gains the quick draw feat for the purposes of retrieving and opening bottles of wine, kegs of ale, and the like.

Unpredictable Attack (Ex): Suiken masters’ movements are erratic and their attacks launched at random with seemingly no strategy, as such while fighting defensively, a suiken master can make attacks that catch their opponents off guard. If the suiken master makes a successful feint attempt while fighting defensively, he adds his Suiken Master class level plus one half his monk class level as a bonus to the attack and damage rolls of any attack that round on the now flat-footed opponent. The suiken master can use his dexterity modifier in place of his charisma modifier on any feint attempts made while intoxicated.

Fluid Movement (Ex): At 6th level, by learning to move as if he were flowing water (or more likely flowing wine) the suiken master’s dodge bonus to AC while fighting defensively improves by an additional +1 to a total additional bonus of +2. While intoxicated, the suiken master’s dodge bonus to AC improves by an additional +2, to a total additional bonus of +4. In addition, the suiken master may make one additional 5ft adjustment each round.

Improved Evasion (Ex): As the Monk ability of the same name

Reactive Reprisal (Ex): When fighting defensively, a suiken master is allowed a free attack of opportunity against any opponent who misses him in melee with a +4 bonus on the attack and damage roll of any such attack. This does not allow the suiken master to make more than one attack of opportunity on a single opponent in any given round.

Improvised Weapon Mastery (Ex): At 7th level the suiken master’s skill with improvised weapons reaches new heights. Any improvised weapon wielded by the suiken master is treated as magical for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction and as a special monk weapon.

Drunken Fury (Ex): Once during any period of intoxication in which the suiken master receives a –4 or greater penalty to intelligence and wisdom, he may unleash his full drunken fury on an opponent. For one round per three class levels, the suiken master’s bonus to strength, dexterity and constitution from intoxication doubles, his unarmed damage increases by one step, and he is treated as if hasted and may take one extra partial action each round. In addition while in a drunken fury he may make as many attacks of opportunity in any given round as he is allowed provided no more than two are against the same opponent. When the drunken fury ends, the suiken master is no longer intoxicated; he becomes fatigued and receives a –4 penalty to strength, dexterity, and constitution for as long as the drunken fury lasted.

____________

the reason I thought this up was because I thought the complete warrior version was based too much on the jackie chan movie Legend of the Drunken Master (which was awesome) instead of the real deal, which, while not as flashy, was just as cool.

Looks very similar to the drunken master in the CW with enough twists to make it a different playing style. I like it.

This is a good idea. Monk-based characters generally have crappy defensive options.

Monk Abilities (Ex): a suiken master’s class levels stack with his monk levels for determining his unarmed damage, AC bonus, and unarmored speed bonus. While intoxicated the suiken master adds his charisma bonus (if positive) to his AC instead of wisdom

This probably should be redone. The character now cannot afford to have a low Charisma, either, making the already multiple attribute dependent Monk even more MAD. Remember, the drunken part of the class requires good Wisdom and Intelligence in order reap significant benefits.

Hmm. I'd make it a DC equal to the attack roll's result.

Lunging Strike (Ex): At 4th level, When fighting defensively, a suiken master gains a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls when making an attack of opportunity

As a Monk-based character, he needs every bit of attack bonus boost he can get. Thumbs up.

Unpredictable Attack (Ex): Suiken masters’ movements are erratic and their attacks launched at random with seemingly no strategy, as such while fighting defensively, a suiken master can make attacks that catch their opponents off guard. If the suiken master successfully bluffs an opponent while fighting defensively, the suiken master considers that opponent flat-footed against attacks until the end of the suiken master’s next turn. While intoxicated, the suiken master uses his dexterity bonus in place of his charisma bonus on bluff checks made to launch an unpredictable attack.

This seems utterly pointless, as he doesn't get any special benefits for hitting a flat-footed opponent. Just give him another attack bonus increase.

This is fine.

Reactive Reprisal (Ex): When fighting defensively, a suiken master is allowed a free attack of opportunity or trip attempt against any opponent who misses him in melee, however he does not get to apply his strength bonus to damage rolls on any such attack. This does not allow the suiken master to make more than one attack of opportunity on a single opponent in any given round.

An attack of opportunity can already be used to trip. I don't know why you'd take away the his Strength bonus. It's not like he can do all that much damage.

Momentous Throw (Ex): A suiken master knows how to use a foe’s momentum against them. If a suiken master trips an opponent as an attack of opportunity after that opponent has missed the suiken master in melee, the suiken master may immediately choose to throw that opponent up to thirty feet in any direction as long as the opponent is no more than one size category larger than the suiken master. If there is a wall or object larger than the thrown creature in it’s path, the creature stops in the square in front of that object and takes falling damage appropriate for the distance traveled. If he wishes, the suiken master may throw the hapless foe at another enemy within thirty feet. If this happens the thrown foe deals damage appropriate for his weight and takes half the damage dealt as falling damage. This ability may be used no more than once per 1d4 rounds.

This doesn't really seem in keeping with suikenjutsu, which is largely focused on strikes and locks.

Fine and dandy.

thanks for the input, after looking it over, I actually agree with everything you said, so I'll alter it accordingly

done, it lacks a 9th level ability, but I think the modification to monk abilities makes up for it. I also lowered the requirements a bit

Seriously, the best way to test your class is to write up a character that uses it, put him in a generic, unoptimized party, and see how much he contributes to a bunch of varied encounters at each level. If the other party members are contributing significantly more than he is, then he needs a boost. If he's contributing more than some but still not contributing more than at least one, then he's fine. Get some of your friends to help by playing the party for you.

That's what I'd do, were I you.
