Alignment: Any lawful Skills: Choose one: Balance 8, Intimidate 4; or Balance 4, Intimidate 8. Feats: Toughness (or similiar feat such as Improved Toughness), Improved Bullrush, Improved Grapple, Improved Unarmed Strike. Special: To become a Sumo Rikishi, a character must bulk up their weight through an intense training regimene. This entails skipping breakfast and exercising vigorously for 4 hours followed by a large lunch. This most be repeated for 30 days. Any day skipped may be made up for with two days of training. At the end of the process, add 40% to the character's weight. Skills: 2+Int mod per level. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The Sumo Rikishi gains no proficiencies with weapons or armor. Unarmed Strike A Sumo Rikishi's unarmed strike is treated both as a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either manufactured weapons or natural weapons. If the Sumo Rikishi had previous Monk levels, his class levels stack for the purpose of determining unarmed damage. Otherwise, to calculate unarmed damage add one effective monk level per Sumo Rikishi class level to the character for the purpose calculating unarmed damage. AC Bonus (Ex) When unarmored and unencumbered, the Sumo Rikishi adds her Wisdom bonus (if any) to her AC. This doesn't stack with the Monk's Wisdom bonus to AC. Tsukidashi (Ex) When unarmored, a Sumo Rikishi may strike with a tsukidashi attack at the expense of accuracy. When doing so, she may make one extra attack in a round at her highest base attack bonus, but this attack takes a -2 penalty, as does each other attack made that round. This penalty applies for 1 round, so it also affects attacks of opportunity the monk might make before her next action. When a Sumo Rikishi reaches 2nd level, the penalty lessens to -1, and at 4th level it disappears. A Sumo Rikishi must use a full attack action to strike with a tsukidashi. When using Tsukidashi, a Sumo Rikishi may attack only with unarmed strikes and may not have any object or weapon in either hand. If the Sumo Rikishi has any levels of Monk, he may stack his Monk and Sumo Rikishi levels in order to determine the attack bonuses of his Tsukidashi. However, the same restrictions apply to making the Tsukidashi attack. Greater Tsukidashi When a Sumo Rikishi reaches 6th level, her Tsukidashi ability improves. In addition to the standard single extra attack she gets from Tsukidashi, she gets a second extra attack at her full base attack bonus. Kimarite Training A Sumo Rikishi gains insight through training into the winning techniques of the sumo martial arts style. He may add his Constituion modifier to all Kihonwaza techniques (Bull Rush checks) and to all Nagete techniques (Grapple checks) while unarmored. Rapid Metabolism At 2nd level, a Sumo Rikishi gains Rapid Metabolism (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicFeats.htm#rapidMetabolism)as a bonus feat, even if he doesn't meet the prerequisites. Visceral Armor A Sumo Rikishi uses his bulk as a natural shield against attacks. At 3rd level, a Sumo Rikishi may add up to 2 points of his Constitution bonus as a natural armor bonus to AC. Every 3 levels after, increase the maximum bonus added by +1. This stacks with racially granted natural armor. Kakete Master At 3rd level, a Sumo Rikishi becomes adept at Kakete (tripping) techniques and gains Improved Trip and Sidestep Charge (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicFeats.htm#sidestepCharge)as bonus feats, even if he doesn't meet the prerequisites. This ability works only when the Sumo Rikishi is unarmored. Powerful Grapple When dealing damage in a grapple, a Sumo Rikishi adds 1 and 1/2 his strength modifier to the damage dealt with an unarmed attack. Fortified Bulk (Ex): At 8th level and higher, a Sumo Rikishi can lessen the effects of a normally telling attack by using his bulky body as armor. Against a sneak attack or critical hit, a Sumo Rikishi is treated as wearing light fortification armor, and thus has a 25% chance of not taking extra damage from the attack. Enhanced Bull Rush When making a bull rush attempt, a Sumo Rikishi may make an unarmed attack swift action. Oshitaoshi A Sumo Rikishi may make a full attack at the end of a charge, as long as all attacks are unarmed strikes or Tsukidashi attacks and the Sumo Rikishi is unarmored. Powerful Build: The physical stature of Sumo Rikishi lets them function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Whenever a Sumo Rikishi is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), the Sumo Rikishi is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. A Sumo Rikishi is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature’s special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. A Sumo Rikishi can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefits of this class feature trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject’s size category, but not with other powerful build abilities. Ex-Sumo Rikishi: Any Sumo Rikishi who becomes nonlawful or whose weight goes under his race's average weight +25% cannot gain new levels as a Sumo Rikishi but retains all Sumo Rikishi abilities. Multiclass Note: A Monk may take levels in Sumo Rikishi and continue taking Monk levels. |

| vorpo10-17-07, 02:12 PM | Point taken on Jump, but not tumble. I have never seen a sumo wrestler tumble. As a rule for the sport, any part of your body other than your feet touch the ground, you lose. So, I seriously doubt they practice tumbling. They may roll with the force when they fall, but it ain't tumbling. |
| imakuni6710-17-07, 10:20 PM | You are right, tumble is out. But let's get down to the meat and potatoes of the class shall we? ;) |
| imakuni6710-18-07, 06:57 PM | Couple little updates here and there :D |
| ninjarabbit10-20-07, 09:02 AM | I think I'd put a BAB of 5 requirement for the class, a 1st or 2nd level character could qualify for this PrC with flaws. Also instead of timeless body I'd give the Sumo Rikishi the powerful build ability, it's a nice capstone ability and would fit a sumo. |
